Fudge. At least it's still 9 days until the next Rangers' game. Best of luck to the Norwegians against Russia. If they survive the first 20 minutes, the Russians might get impatient, having a arena expecting a blowout in their backs.

He will easily be able to go unless there are some serious mechanical complications. In the end he will have ended up playing 3 games during 2 weeks, only good for us that he was kept warm.

I don't think there is to much worry about a long term injury here. The hand is not broken, it's just some pain and swelling. I would be very surprised if that isn't healed in time for the first game after the Olympics. I'm happy he's sitting this one out. The chance of beating the Russians is slim to none anyway, so to gamble with a minor injury is just not worth it, even if he was able to dress.

Now, go Team USA and go Team Czech Republic.
Haha, the Swedes are soo linening up for a new Belarus disaster. Slovenia spanked Slovakia, that isn't that bad, and is looking solid. Kopitar is carrying a line etc. Sweden hasn't played a good shift since the first period of the first game. Were litterary lucky to beat Swiss and Latvia. I don't want Hank to become Salo.

This is very of topic, but the name Salo is an extremely funny name for a goalie to have in Norway. The most used brand of dish soap in Norway is called Zalo, and it has the exact same pronunciation. It's common to joke about a soccer goalie who loses the grip on the ball with having smeared Zalo on his gloves.

The Sedins saved Mårts job last year in coming to the WC and excelling
Maybe their lack of participation this year will cost him his job now
One can hope...

Bettman,Fehr and IIHF guy spoke today

Quote:
Other news: Fehr indicated official World Cup announcement is coming in the not-too-distant future...
https://twitter.com/FriedgeHNIC/stat...82872175771648

Quote:
Daly said the two most important factors the NHL and NHLPA must consider when deciding to attend the Olympics are the logistics of travel to and from the host city and player insurance. He also said access for NHL media platforms is a consideration.

Sochi is nine times zones ahead of New York and 12 ahead of Los Angeles. Pyeongchang is five hours ahead of Sochi.

"It was a big challenge coming to Sochi, and it certainly would be a big challenge if we were to go to South Korea," Daly said. "Player insurance is always a factor with the magnitude and length of player contracts these days, an incredible number of assets at risk."

There is a general consensus that hockey at the Olympics is a bigger deal with NHL players. Commissioner Bettman said that in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, somewhere between 60-70 percent of the ticket sales, other than the opening and closing ceremonies, were for hockey.

However, Daly said that historically NHL ticket sales and television ratings have not gone up after the Olympics. The NHL also does not receive any revenues from the Olympics, and players are not paid to be here, but the IIHF reimburses the NHL for costs incurred for player participation, including travel.

"As a practical business matter, for the clubs individually, the Olympics have no tangible positive effect," Daly said. "Certainly for the visibility of ice hockey, which is kind of good, big-picture, for the National Hockey League, it's good. Given all the pros and cons, we made a determination that on balance it was more positive to be here than negative, and that's why we're in Sochi."

All indications are that it shouldn't be long before a decision is made on Pyeongchang.

"I think it's a decision we should be able to make relatively soon," Daly said, "and it's a decision, in fairness to the hockey world, that should be made relatively soon, because people have to make plans for 2018."

Well, that's about as tough of a loss you can get for team Norway.

There can never be more than a 12 hour time difference anywhere, because then you just go the other way... and make it a 10 hour difference (instead of 14 in this case)

I think Zucc's hand is just taped down to relive some pain and swelling, the same way you would tape a down a sprained ankle. I don't see any way the Norwegian medical staff would benefit anything from underplaying the seriousness of the injury. If it was a broken bone, they would have said it and had him in a cast already.

Less closeups of Radulov's face would be great.

Tollefsson should be in the NHL.

Sucks to be behind on that goal. Haven't followed the game, so I don't know how it's looked. I'm sure Russia deserves their lead, it's just unfortunate for Norway that that's how they got it.

The first NHL charter from Sochi to Newark leaves Thursday. Zuccarello will get his hand checked by the Rangers staff on Friday or on the weekend. Zetterberg will be on that flight because of his back injury.

Great start by Norway. Lucky bounce for Russia on the lead goal. Problem for Norway is there is no big goal scorer at the moment. But maybe we can go down with some honor at least.

I am not an expert of this, but sometimes you wait for the swelling to go down before you do a X-ray.

Hopefully its not another broken bone for him, that would suck... It definitely don't have to be anything serious at all. A serious whack on the hand or if you are hit by the puck, can definitely just put you out of action for a couple of days.

Think Holøs could hold down a spot somewhere in the NHL? He was logging more serious minutes in the Canada game, if I remember it correctly.

I think as a bottom pairing guy and a complement on the 2nd PP unit. He's a better version of Matt Gilroy, and Gilroy was able to find games over his career.

But a lot of the guys who are sort of in between NHL top 9/top4 and AHL are best suited in the KHL where they can play and get paid.

I think four or five Norwegian players could hold down a spot on a NHL roster. Zucc is already there. Holøs, Thoresen and Tollefsen has all been there and should be in the NHL. Mathis Olimb should be the next Norwegian in the NHL, at least not counting those who have been there before.

I know it will never happen, but if Hockey were moved to the summer Olympics, everything would be solved. Basketball is a winter sport also, and it is in the summer Olympics. 50 years ago, I understand why you could not have it in the summer, but now it is not an issue.
