Well I'm pretty sure Barrie would go for that.

welcome to the oiler board around trade deadline

wait till the 27th

mods will be here doing shots of jack, pulling their hair out and either shutting down threads left right and centre or just dolling out the points...

Oiler board will be chaos centrel for the next few weeks

1/2 the board wants to turtle and rebuild on the fly
1/2 the board wants them to trade their prospects for a number 1 d-man--regardless if they will resign in the off season

and of course the entire board is firm in thier beliefs

going to be fun

Kalinin, Stafford, 1st

for

Smyth, Smith

Something like that?

Unlikely. Thats too much. Vanek isn't a prospect anymore, he's one of the team's leading goal scorers. A package like that would be similar or better than what Edmonton got for Pronger, and Smyth doesn't have more value than Pronger.

Oh totally. That is why our best d-man, Smith(1.9M signed through next year) and a top prospect MAP(top 6 potential C with size and hands) are included.

Vanek does seem like a lot to ask for though, Hmm, the problem is Stafford and a 1st seems low and Vanek seems high. Although, since it puts Buffalo very well positioned for their 1st cup... How much does that factor into it? I don't know...

Glad I am not a GM

If it was Campbell, the Staff and 1st combo would have to be downgraded. I suspect Regier is keen on keeping Soup around though.

edit: With yesterday's injury to Spacek, I am not sure that Buffalo will want to be moving any d-men out. They may have to add to the current corps

Spacek got hurt? Ok then debate time....who made the transaction that puts there team closer to the Cup? A) Calgary getting Stuart or B) Buffalo putting Jaro Spacek on IR? I'm chosing B personally!
