Yes Gainey will make a trade, there's no way that he can sit back anymore and wait for the team to correct itself.

Teamshiladelphia, Edmonton, Florida

Players:Forsberg, Horcoff, Stumpel

I think Gainey will make a move, he loves picking up experience at the deadline. However, if he is really going for a "big name", the trade will happen soon, he's the kind of GM who wants to give his players time to mesh before the playoffs.

^ Yes, Bob Gainey, the same GM who dealt Iginla for Nieuwendyk to win the Stanley Cup.

The same GM who pulled off Langenbrunner for Arnott

The same GM who got us Kovalev in 04 for nothing.

I think we're in good hands

edit: all at the deadline

He also unloaded a fat 6M contract for a solid goalie who costs 3X less.

My guess is that Philly will trade Forsberg somewhere else than Montreal. I predict Anaheim.

Edmondton is still fighting for a playoff spot, why the hell would they trade Horcoff?

For sure, Gainey will be looking for a solid forward. He has to give assets if he's looking for a long term deal, which is not his best opportunity.

IMO, he should try to reach for a UFA who won't re-sign this summer. I wouldn't be surprised to see Briere signing with MTL this summer. He would be a perfect fit with Koivu as the two top-6 centres.

Haha...I defnitely like this. Nice to see someone thinking out of the box, I don't think I've heard Modano mentioned at all in trade rumours.

At the beginning of the year I never thought Modano would be traded, that he would finish his career with Dallas the same way Yzerman did with Detroit. But ever since they stripped him of the C and gave it to Morrow, anything is possible.

Exactly. I'm pretty sure they don't want Mikey as their #1 center.... While they're a good team, if you think the Habs have some trouble scoring, we have 165 goals for, they have 145.....no way does Modano gets traded.

Along with the fact that he has great playoff experience, he's going to be extremely valuable to the Stars in the playoffs.

I would love to see Modano in a habs jersey, but I really really don't see it happening.

There is no way this team is doing any moves. This would be ridiculous. With three D becoming UFA, we are either becoming sellers or buyers... And I don't know what Gainey will choose. I would like us to maybe deal Souray if we get a good offer. But I doubt we become seller because Gainey will get publicly killed by the media if he does.

Some blog had the Ribeiro-Niinima trade weeks ahead. Plus, there had been rumours about Theo to Colorado all year.

Remember, there are two sides to a trade. If BG doesn't leak anything, the other side might.

I hope he doesn't do a trade like that, because taking risks right now is not what we need to do.
