I'm guessing Vishnevski had been with the team in Vancouver, as he didn't get to Nashville in time to play tonight.

OK, in today's AJC there was an article about Hamel being an upgrade at forward on the bottom 2 lines for the Thrashers. The same article also talked about Rucchin sitting the back to back games for rest but that the team expected him back before the end of the road trip. If this is the case, it makes the trade for Belanger a little strange to me. Could they be planning on moving Metro off of the Hossa and Kozlov line? This would seem to put a log jam at Forward. I am guessing that Haydar will be sent back to Chicago soon and I thought he was doing a pretty decent job on the fourth line the last few games. But what does this mean for Slater and Kapanen? I guess we'll see the first impact this tonight.

I think Metro's safe. Belanger will probably be put with Kovy and Sim tonight, and when Rucchin returns, it all depends on Belanger's play how things will work out. If Belanger starts putting up some good points, Rucchin will probably be moved down to the third line and Holik to the fourth, with either Kapanen or Slater being shipped out of here. My pick would be Kapanen.

FWIW, Belanger himself, in his own words, has said that he doesn't feel comfortable in the top-six, and sees his role as a third line\energy type. He's like Mike Sillinger in the regard that he only seems to produce when he's in the bottom six.

Then what does he expect us to do?

We're not moving Slater or Holik up, neither of them deserve to be anywhere higher than they are, and Holik just doesnt fit with Kovy.

I think Belanger will do well with Kovy well see tonight, but i still think Atlanta is not done trading for a Better Center.I hate to lose Vish cause he was just a big force to have on the team he can rock you so hard, well now he sgonna rock us when we play Nashville this sucks!!

It's not like we play each other enough to worry about it.

It's not like Vish hits anyone often enough to worry about it.

So now we've got what, 5 bottom-six centers?

that's what we said when we traded for him--belanger, fiddler, nichol, smithson are all natural centers.

Belanger was good tonight, even though the rest of the team (Aside from Exelby) sucked.

Hamel..was a completely different story. I never wanna see that guy play again.

You didn't like Hamel?

He was faster and stayed on his feet more than Vigier, or Haydar.
He got to the net more than Vigier or Haydar.
He made some good defensive plays, and made some nice passes.

He made Larsen look like the slow scrub that he is.

I dunno...he seemed pretty invisible throughout the game, and when I did see him, he didnt look too good at all. I do admit that I was pissed off that we were losing to a team like Edmonton though...so maybe I need to give him another chance before judging him.
