Maybe now we should start a thread entitled "Lapierre's slash", about how he clearly went after Emery's glove hand with his tomahawk chop, knowing full well that it has been injured for a while now.

Come on, it's only been two days, can't let the fun end now

Yes, great victory it is.

What I'm saying is that your fans can be just as bad or just as big as homers as Hab fans or any other fans in the league. Anyway...

I think we all know that! Did you think we weren't? I'm flattered if you did.

Just to be mentioned in the same breadth as Hab fans is a dream come true for me.

I take offense in being compared to Habs fans.

I'm a Sens fan.

And that ain't no hab fan.

Are you kidding? That Lapierre guy was not harmed in the slightest. Meanwhile, that poor Canadian pairs skater just about got her head sliced off in the spinnerama accident last week. And then there was the girl who got dropped eight feet onto her head a couple of weeks before. Pairs skating is a hell of a lot more dangerous than getting tapped on the visor with a goal stick.

jesus, someone needs to regulate that sport if what you said is true.

I'm gonna be sure to remember to block all channels that might show figure skating when my future, not yet conceived, children get born.

thanks for the heads up!

Of course we can be just as bad, but in this case I have my doubts. At least a dozen Sens fans have posted in different threads around the boards that they thought Emery probably deserves to get a game for this. There are plenty of fan boards here that probably wouldn't have more than 2 or 3 of their fans admit to that, and quite a few of them have larger fan bases than us. We're a pretty level headed group around here usually.

One of the things that has gotten the fans hackles up here though is the wording chosen by some other teams fans, mainly Habs fans but certainly not limited to them. When people are writing things like "Emery intentionally meant to injure Lapierre" and "Emery took a baseball swing at his face" and "Emery should get 5 or 10 games for his vicious attack", etc., it's bound to get some of the reactions that have been displayed. The truth of the matter is that yes, Emery did mean to hit him (but not in the face) and he did bring his stick up and across (but in no way was it a baseball swing) and it was certainly not that vicious considering he was off balance in the first place. Lapierre may have gotten no more than a fat lip had he not been wearing a visor.

Bottom line, the whole thing got blown out of proportion because of the overreaction of most (not all) of the parties involved. And for the record I'd have no problem either if Emery got a game for this as intentional or not, his stick did hit him in the face (well in the visor covering his face anyway).
