He may not be the right fit in Montreal but if that is not a proven goal scorer I don't know what is.

I made a proposal on another thread and I think that Barnett would really consider it and it would also make our team better.

To MTL: Shane Doan and Nick Boynton

To PHX: Michael Ryder, Ryan O'Byrne and 1st rounder

Keep in mind the draft this year is thin. Really thin. Anything out of the top 5 or so is going to be wide open. Dallas is strong this year, and will have a late pick. Tjarnqvist is a roster player, but not anyone of great importance. Merely a warm body. IMO Dallas gave up some quantity, but not a lot of quality.

As for the StL reporters feeling of Gainey's top 5 list, I'd much rather have Doan than either Blue. Sure, the price will be higher, but I think worth it. Guerin's and Tkachuk's attitudes have never impressed me.
That is, in fact, not true. It's not a top heavy draft, but a really deep one...

Nagy would have been a nice addition, but for a rental player I think Dallas overpaid

I say pass, there are other options out there.

I see the Hawks and Habs as partners with Aucoin and Smolinski in a package for Sammy another player like Perezhogin and late picks. A small adjustment trade, not a future costing mistake.
ya..let miss the playoffs

Dallas wanted to get rid of Tjarnqvist. He has nothing to do with Grabovski, nothing at all.

Consistant 20 plus goal scorer I would say, not really a proven goal scorer in my opinion.

No way the Habs give up two first round picks for Forsberg......too much for a rental player

I could see Barrett doing this, but more would have to be added from MTL for cap reasons.

I see Tkatchuk being a good fit on the Habs. Same with Doan.

I would not be opposed to dealing Ryder for either of them. His time has come.

Eklund is now saying that the deal was a #1 for Nagy and that Tjarnqvist was not included.

So why waived that NHL proven goal scorer!!! Even Kevin Lowe did not want to sign him!!!!

Strangely enough, no NHL team picked that awesome NHL proven goal scorer.....

Throw in Niinimaa and a 5th rounder in 2008 for them taking Niinimaa to open our cap space up. That should be able to fit.

I was just checking hockeysfuture and didn't even see this prospect on their list at all. He must not be very good. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Seems as though it's a first plus a crappy throw in prospect that nobody thinks too highly of.

Thats because he isn't really a prospect.. Tjarnqvist even cleared waivers earlier this year.

The more I think about it and have seen what Nagy went for the more I think BG can pull of some sort of deal to get Boynton and possibly Doan too. And the more I think these two guys can be important players for the CH.

Boynton is a reliable D not having the greatest season but he's under contract for 2 more years at under 3M per.

Doan is a rental but is a physical rugged player with the ability to put the puck in the net.

In my opinion judging by what Nagy went for, I think a reasonable proposal, could be something as was proposed earlier in this thread,

Ryder, O'byrne and a 1st. Perhaps a bit more would need to be given, even a return rental in Rivet would be possible, the team is already 8 Dmen deep bringing in a ninth is pointless. I could see Gretz appreciating a veteran presence and thinking that they could re-sign him.

Regardless of my rambling I could see this being very good for the habs and a very appealing possiblity for BG.

A young man can hope.
