Little difference considering this vote is 1% of the decision versus a vote that was the literal decider.

I was at Colgate University this past weekend with my son's mite team and 'Gate played Union Saturday night. Homer and Hexy were in the house. Ghost looked really solid out there. Very good speed and moves the puck well.

Nhl ready good!? Thats def a lot of pressure on the kid playing in front of homer. Hopefully he signs an entry level after his season.

Hard to say if he is NHL ready good. All I can say is when I spoke with the Colgate coach he said he hoped that he gets signed so they don't have to play him next season.

Players of this calibre have been playing in front of scouts/coaches for many years so I honestly don't think it has any effect on their play on the ice.

I think it has been said a million times about Ghost, but unless he does something ridiculous in training camp or something, he's going to have to play in the AHL before the NHL. He just doesn't have the build of an NHLer at this time, unless he is just that much more talented than the rest of the guys on the ice, which, no offense to Ghost, but he likely is not that talented at this point. He needs to bulk up before he has any chance at being a regular in the NHL.

Ghost needs to be Karlsson to play at this level right now. It may be unfair, but Karlsson is super small, but elite offensively. We won't know about Ghost until he's here.

I agree that he needs to sign this year and get into the AHL. He needs to be in a pro program to add some weight. If people think he's going to put on 20 lbs. of muscle they are crazy. He's about 20 now and weight somewhere around 170. Realistically he might top at 180 if he's lucky. His weight does not scare me really. He has assets that help him out. Good stick, positional sound and elusive in his own end.

There is zero reason a 19 almost 20 year old who weighs 170lbs can't put on more then 10lbs. 185lbs would be a good weight IMO.

He has already stated that he knows he needs to put on size, however he also stated that he doesnt want to lose his speed. Its a speed game these days. Playing on the 3rd d pairing and being the qb pp doesnt mean your gonna be getting down and dirty in the trenches. His speed will compensate for that. We need a offensive minded dman more than anything else right now. He has the best shot to make the roster next year based off need.

I saw that article and came here to ask: is that slightly hyperbolic?

Well, this leaves a lot of possibility for an ELC after the season is over. He certainly seems to be thinking about it already.

Due to the Flyers desperate need for puck movers on defense, I would not be surprised to see him start the season in the orange & black rather than going to the AHL, assuming he signs a contract.

I wouldn't be completely shocked to see him in the lineup once his season ends. If he signs of course.

I think that just depends a lot on how are Union advances, where the Flyers are in the standings when they finish, and the relative health of the defense core when that happens. I definitely hope he's in Adirondack or Philadelphia (for 9 or less game obviously) though, because any other scenario is a wasted opportunity or a poor decision (returning for his Senior year).

Reading between the lines, I think that he is leaning toward turning pro though.

The 9/10 game rule only applies to major junior, not college. Once you sign a pro contract, you are done with college.

If Gostisbehere signs after his season is done this year he can finish it out with Adirondack on a try-out contract which wouldn't count against his ELC or play with the Flyers but if he exceeds the 9 games he burns a year off his ELC.

I'm pretty sure Stizzle is right. The 9 game rule is only for junior aged players. If he only signs an ATO for the rest of this season, he obviously won't be on the big club, but if he signs an ELC to start this year it's going to burn one year. The Flyers may use this as a perk to convince him to sign. It will be interesting to see if they put him on the reserve list like the Rangers did Kreider, making him eligible for the playoffs. Still a lot to play out, but he could be a wildcard.

That's fine and all but he's still a d-man, he'll still have to go behind is net and battle for the puck. Very few players can succeed at this level at his current size. In all likelihood he won't be another exception.

Btw, yes adding weight could slow him down but it's not like I'm suggesting he add fat. 10 lbs of muscle shouldn't slow him down that much (considering he's currently 170lbs).

I'm just saying he can be as quick as he wants, he's still gonna get hit and if he gets caught by a guy with 50lbs on him, coming in at a high speed, he's likely to get injured.
