GG with the US out of the hunt for gold, this is the longest dry spell of hockey I've had in a loooong time.

Just seeing the word "Rams" in this thread title makes this the most interesting HF thread right now.

I know, sad.

It would be awesome if they came back. In a year or two, I'm going to take our son to his first NFL game and I don't want to have to go to a Charger game (unless if it's in L.A. of course)

L.A. needs football!!! (and no, USC doesn't count - not even close. sorry Trojan alum )

Who should the Lakers tank for, in your opinion? Everybody has been calling for Wiggins.

Personally, I like Parker and Exum. I guess Wiggins can take over for Kobe much like Kobe took over for Eddie Jones.

I also heard a la carte cable was on the horizon. At least that is what the guy at charter said when I told him I'd like to cancel all my channels excet NBCSN, Fox Sports and NHL Network. Quite frankly, I'm ready to get rid of it all and just start streaming Kings games. I pay $125 a month for 300 channels I don't watch.
You don't think they researched it going in?

The Dodgers got an $8 Billion deal for 25 years of TV rights. ($320M Annually)

The Dodgers are a brand akin to the Yankees and Lakers, the Dodgers draw better than the Yankees most years, fwiw.

The Angels got $3 Billion over 20 years sticking with FSN. ($150M Annually)

Does the Dodgers franchise still own the "Doyers" trademark, which Frank McCourt "patented"?

Can I trade the Lakers TWC channel for the Dodgers one? Apparently, I do have the Lakers channel, but the new Dodgers one wasn't automatically included.

As expected, Lakers lost to the post-Granger trade Pacers.

Oh, also, while the Lakers are tanking this season, the team and Papa John's have a season-wide promo during Lakers games; applicable in Lakers local market only.

Code is: LAKERS50.

Way to go Dodgers with your new channel that nobody has! Most people have no clue that this is going on. I hope Dish can come to an agreement soon.

All these special networks are getting out of hand. Plus their programming is usually crap outside of the game.

I want to see a weekly feature on the making of Dodger dogs and how they treat the grass at Dodger Stadium. And maybe a segment on scalper etiquette and how to negotiate with them and where the best piss spots are if you are outside Dodger Stadium and can't find a bathroom.

I'm sure they did but as a person that may watch the Dodgers games if they were on FSN, i wont' be paying a penny extra to get that channel. In fact, I'm on the verge of getting rid of cable altogether. I'm tired of paying for 200+ channels I don't watch to get the 5 channels that I do watch. This only adds to it because I can almost guarantee you when Charter adds the channel (If they haven't already), they'll sneak in a little charge to the sports tier I have to pay for to get NBCSN.

I guess if anything, this helps push people to the brink of saying "f it" to the cable companies.

As a Dodger fan, I enjoyed this article

For years, Anaheim Angels of Anaheim owner Arte Moreno has made much hay about how Forbes once named him the best owner in professional sports. That was back in 2009, the last year the Halos made the playoffs. Ever since then, of course, the team has bumbled its way through hundreds of millions of dollars in high-priced free agents who haven't panned out and the disembowelment of its farm and scouting system, leading Forbes last year to call the team the worst in Major League Baseball for the money.

Now comes ESPN The Magazine, which wrote a long profile on the team's farm system, in the process calling them "the worst franchise in MLB." And it's not just the Mag who's saying that.

The story begins last year at spring training, when Angels assistant GM Scott Servais gathered all of the Angels' minor league players, coaches, and managers and asked how many of them had made the playoffs in 2012 in their respective minor leagues. Only one person.

"Baseball America thinks we have the worst talent in the game," Servais said, according to ESPN. "How does that make you feel? You play in the worst organization in the game."

Baseball America has once again deemed the Angels dead last in its rankings of franchise's organizational talent--this, on a team with budding superstar Mike Trout, fading superstars Josh Hamilton and Albert Pujols...and a whole bunch of nothing afterwards. And this assessment doesn't factor in Moreno's wish to fleece taxpayers in Anaheim, Tustin, or anywhere stupid enough to build him a new stadium.

The ESPN piece ends on a positive note: by the end of 2013, four of the Angels six minor-league affiliates had made their playoffs. Can the same happen at the mother ship this year?

Safe to say that 2009 ALCS destroyed their fighting spirit.

Getting destroyed by the now-retired Mariano Rivera, aka "The Last 42", on the Angels' most recent trip to the playoffs? Ouch.

Update: Even Pau Gasol hates tanking, to the point he verbally burned D'Antoni.

Mike Trout got his pre-arbitration extension...1 million dollars. I guess Arte didn't have any cash left over from the 500 million he paid for Pujos and Hamilton.

I really get the feeling the Angels will totally screw up Trouts long term contract.

I agree I like Wiggins too but scouts actually like his teammate Joel Embiid more. I believe they rank him as the #1 prospect for this years draft if I'm not mistaken. But I'd rather take Wiggins. But it's the NBA draft whoever you pick will be a bust. Unless you're Lebron.

Angels might have the generational player in Mike Trout and yeah I'm gonna bet they'll screw this one up. He'll end up a Yankee and win multiple MVP's and titles just watch.

I sincerely hope that once Brian Shaw becomes a free agent coach in 2016 offseason, the Lakers just outright sign him.

Yeah as an Angels fan, it's depressing watching Arte and Jerry ******* run the team into the ground. I have no faith in them getting an extention for Trout done.

Wow this is fantastic. So well written it's scary. Arte Moreno is a clown.

When they signed these guys everyone I know thought I was crazy when I said they wouldn't even make the playoffs.

If Mike Trout did indeed end up with the New York Yankees, I hope, rather, see, the Yankees end up with a four-peat, post-Jeter. It's gonna be amusing to see the Yankees, having the same number of World Series titles as the the number of flavors Baskin Robbins have.

Confession time: I actually got called a "bandwagoner" by my entire 8th Grade US History class (after the 2000 World Series), to the point even the Assistant Vice Principal of my Middle School/Jr. High even placed me in the P.E. class of the wife of former Dodger player Ron Roenicke.
