Nice to see Finland just rubbing it in too.

I know that you have a rep around here of stirring the pot and planting seeds (all due respect) but I'm curious of hearing your side of why you want USA to fail so hard? Americans too are guilty of living to see Canada suck at every other sport outside of hockey an curling And I just don't get it. I want Canada to bring a Gold to N.A. Maybe my inferiority complex is nothing compared to yours, but I just don't see why both sides literally love to see the other fail lol.

Na, don't have to. I was just curious hearing the reasoning, I wasn't trying to start a debate or pissing match. It's undoubtedly probably due to our culture in 'Merica of thinking we are superior at everything. I know it isn't true, and I hate my fellow Americans who have that mindset. Hope the last two games gave them humble pie and a good measuring stick at the fact that we haven't arrived to Canada's hockey dominance.... Yet. Who knows, we might not ever be.

Already PM'ed. Not about the people. Especially ordinary people. Avarice whether it be this nation or the next tends to breed more in the most successful people but with some embracing unchecked ego more than others.

This encapsulates it perfectly. tbh I just can't see a Canadian reacting with this I deserve to win, I have to win, why didn't I win petulance.

Its the ugly and I don't know how these traits get fostered in some south of the border. They wouldn't be embraced here. At all.

Looking over the Finland W more.

Like I said earlier during round robin is these elimination games will be decided on D, not offense, and the offense will have next to nothing to do with how far a club goes.

US became undisciplined today and unravelled soon as they got behind. Finns put on a clinic from there. Hard team to play against.

Just a latter comment and it means something but in Finland a Bronze is an accomplishment, something to be proud of. But it probably should be for any nation in an international picture that now has half a dozen clubs that could conceivably win it all.

Its a little odd, and I can see a TC being upset being in a bronze medal match and playing furtively because they legitimately expect to win the tourney each time out. But for the US do they really now expect to win and anything else is now a disappointment?

US hockey has come along way since 1980 but not all for the better imo. That 1980 team would've been proud to be in a bronze medal match and represent to best of abilities. The many US pro players, and players that were inspired by that team could have some soul searching to do on what happened on the ice today. That was a quit performance.

Sorry, it was.

There will be No Karl Malden made for TV movie about this one.

The Americans have plenty of sports where they dominate (football, baseball, basketball, track...) plus they are contenders or favorites in virtually every other sport (volleyball, gymnastics etc).

All Canada really has is hockey (and curling lol). If the time ever came when the US passed Canada in hockey that would suck for us up here.

I honestly think that at the present time it's cocky for other teams to feel like they should be able to beat Canada in hockey. In most other Olympic sports a nation can qualify more than one team and Canada could field another team that would be a contender for the gold.

it'd be awesome to see two team Canada's at the next world cup, just to actually see how 2 Canadian teams would do in a world tournament

How will I decide who to cheer for when they both make the finals?

Here's an idea, Ont and Que form the core of 2 teams. Then they flip a coin and they get to draft by province/region.

Maritimes
Alberta
BC
Sask
Man

I remember years ago for the women's hockey, they had a tournament where each province had a team and they competed for a national championship, it was around the time Rosa (Don Cherry's wife) had passed away, and if I remember correctly she played a major role in getting that tournament to happen. Would be cool for the women to set up this kind of event again.

Starting to get anxious/nervous, just wish I could fast-forward rather than letting this feeling grow.

My all nighter is starting around 11. So not too bad. Hopefully won't be too drunk by puck drop. Won't be going to a bar at 5, even though I'll be downtown. I'm getting a bit anxious too. I'm worried King Henrik is going to have the game of his life, despite this Canadian team looking positively rock like. I think the boys drew a ton of inspiration from the women though, hopefully that carries them through. It would kind of suck coming this far without a Gold at the end but I'll be proud either way.

I wish you could do 6 women's hockey teams formed of the best players in the world in Canada and still have it be feasible/profitable. Maybe limit the season to a month or two, with a month of playoffs, and shorten the games or something.

It's truly a shame that there isn't a "true" top women's league (CWHL doesn't count).

---
On tomorrow, it couldn't really hurt to dress Subban instead of Hamhuis, right, if neither are going to see the ice? In a 1-0 lead for Sweden and you need something to break the trap and Bouwmeester isn't working, I'd rather throw out Subban instead of Hamhuis. Also, powerplay.

Eh. I don't truly care.

Have never watched a hockey game at this time before. Should be interesting indeed.

Backstrom out with a migraine. That's crazy. Migraine's can be just awful. Must be a bad one for him to miss this game. Probably killing him not to be out there.

Good play all around by Carter and Toews.

Canada is looking dominant out there again. Only one Swedish line (Kruger) seems to be dangerous.
