Robert Lang?

"If the Wings land Forsberg, they might not be done dealing. They might look to move center Robert Lang, an unrestricted free agent at season's end, to an Eastern Conference team in playoff contention, perhaps the New York Rangers. That would give the club additional cap space to acquire a first- or second-line winger."

Again, do we really need ufa player like Lang?

The Detroit writer probably read Larry Brooks yesterday

If the Rangers got Lang, I would hope that meant they got a taker for Nylander, say, Atlanta, perhaps? Otherwise, after watching this team finally hit upon some chemistry on the top three lines, I don't see the need for such a move.

The Rangers line up is packed, so b4 you throw out proposals why dont you, think a bit about who would be moved and where would he fit exactly.

So who would be traded who would be inserted in the line up and where would they be, and why do you wnt a 35 year old center, rental o rnot, NYR is not winning a cup thats a fact so im not willing to give up any sort of picks or prospects for a rental, exspecially one that isnt gonna help NYR get the cup. NYR dont need to make any moves, unless its for young talent, other teams draft picks or prospects.

Brining in a vet makes no sense on a team thats barely even in the playoffs.

I dont really see a need for another winger at this point, especially with the team finding some chemistry for seemingly the first time this season.

If we acquired Lang, which I don't think we will...I think Hossa would be moved down to line three and we may see this:
Straka-Lang-Jagr
Avery-Nylander-Shanahan
Hossa-Cullen-Prucha
Hollweg-Betts-Ortmeyer

I saw Brooks comment a week ago. Though Detroit aren't a team that gets rid of a player like Lang just because they get Forsberg, and they got the capspace to keep both for a run.

Every single player that is "available" is rumored to be going to the Rangers. It's getting quite annoying now.

I'm at the point here where I think it is best for us to live or die with the team we have for this year.

The problem is no longer the offense/forward lines. Now we need some D!

Everyone seems to think that the Forward lines are set now, Wake up peeps they arent. Our own Captain Jagr said that this team needs more than Sean Avery, Hosa is getting a shot to play on the top line thats all well and good, but hes not the long term answer, dont get me wrong, I would love to see him be the next Mikal Renberg (a 3rd line player who had some decent work ethic along the boards and benifited from playing with Lindros & Brindamour) But its probally not gonna happen, this is a short term move at best. Hossa playing on the top line reminds me of when Lindros was playing with Mike York and some journey men player, I cant remember his name, its drivng me crazy, but he scored a hat trick playing with Lindros and than in the same game had his nose broken by a puck that struck him in the face while sitting on the bench. Thats the situation Hossa is in, Talent always brings out the best in a medicore player for periods of time, it wont last. if we could get Lang even up for Hossa we should do it.

We have balance, scoring, defense, and toughness in our forward lines. Sure it never hurts to keep adding talent...but its time to move on and focus on the defense
