Montreal Bars (Olympics)

After reading about Toronto opening at 6am this weekend for the Olympics... Anyone know if they'll be serving alcohol early this weekend in Montreal too?

I doubt it seeing as there are constraints on liquor licenses in Quebec. I'll try and ask my dad about it as well since he has one.
From Wikipedia:

Quote:
Quebec
The province of Quebec has its own special laws concerning selling liquor and acquiring a liquor license. The Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux is in charge of liquor distribution and sets the laws on liquor consumption. The permits authorizing the sale or service of alcoholic beverages within the territory concerning liquor permits concluded between the Government and a Mohawk community are determined in the agreement and issued by the authority designated in the agreement. For example, in Quebec all places that are able to receive a liquor license except grocery stores (available but until 11pm ) are able to operate every day, from 8 o’clock in the morning to 3 o’clock in the morning in selling liquor.[1] In Quebec, strong liquors and spirits (generally over 15%-20% abv.) are restricted for sale only in SAQ outlets (provincially-owned liquor retailers) as well at bars and other establishments with the requisite permit. All other types of liquor, as well as beer, shooters and other alcohol-derivative beverages are permitted to be sold at gas stations as well as supermarkets.

I know La Station des Sports in Laval is open for breakfast, but I don't know at what time they start selling beer.

So Alberta is serving alcohol at 5am, BC is allowing bars to extend their hours into the game, Toronto city council is allowing alcohol at 6am... no Montreal?

Edit: Seems Cages aux Sports will open at 7.

8am here apparently

http://www.cjad.com/cjad-news/2014/0...g-hockey-final

"By 6:30, we'll be letting people in to grab some seats, and then we'll kill the time until 8 o'clock when we can start pouring pints."

Under current legislation, bars are allowed to start serving alcohol at 8 am

Gold medal game is at 6am sask times, the province has made an exception and will allow bars to serve liquor through the night and into the morning.

I thought I was the only one who was thinking this. If you need to drink at 7am, then I suggest you seek help.

I won't be drinking at 7 am tomorrow but you really think drinking a beer, watching the gold medal game at 7 in the morning on a Sunday is a terrible thing?

I'm sure drinks will be poured at 7am in MTL for the game....my liver can tell you for a fact that drinks are served before 7am on the St Patricks day friday morning breakfest at certain fine irish establishments.

If someone drinks a beer at 7AM once, for a special occasion, you really think it's a problem? Not because you won't drink that it's bad doing so.

Beer in the morning isn't good at all from I have heard. You dont drink alcohol when you have nothing in your system.

Beer tastes bad anyway...I still don't understand how people manage to drink it

8am at Le Skratch in Brossard. I think most bars open at that time anyway.

Oh man. I had quite a few drunken times playing pool at Skratch and then walking down Taschereau to crash at my friend's place at 2-3AM. Good times.
