So you disagree that Sutton was trying to hurt Pisani on the play?

You don't drive your shoulder into someone's head unless you are trying to hurt them.

There's nothing wrong with that if you are going to answer the bell... but Sutton has a history of running and hiding against Edmonton (like the brawl 3 years ago where he runs away from Laraque and goes after Eric Brewer instead).

How did TB do in 2004...
ATL - 3-2-0-1
CAR - 3-1-2
WSH - 4-2-0
FLA - 3-2-1

Total within the SE - 13-8-3 .... Thats just OK, not great. Certainly not a record for a team coasting through a division. Outside the Southeast...TB had better record and got more points against the Atlantic division with fewer games (16-4-0) 32pts- than the Southeast (13-8-3) 29pts.
SE Division - 13-8-3
Outside the SE- 23-12-3
Conf Record - 38-21-5*
*Only had losing record against Ottawa (0-4-0-1), and Islanders (1-3), however, they did sweep Philadelphia (4-0) and New Jersey (4-0).

(Sorry ATL Fans... just trying to defend our division, not talk up TB on your board)

Standings points per game against the South East: 1.22 (18-11-3)

The one thing these South East detractors "fail to consider" is reality.
Carolina won their division by 20 points, Tampa Bay won by nearly 30... I'd say that's easily winning your division.

Not once did I even come close to saying that they won their division because they could only beat teams within their division. You can afford to play a lot differently when you have a huge lead in your division.

I don't know, you may be on to something, but to me it seems you're really overstating the impact of how well the Cup winners divisional opponents do against the rest of the league.

It's not as though that all you need to do to get to the finals is win your division. Carolina and Tampa still had to compete against the other top teams right until the last regular season game for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the conference. Why put so much emphasis on the rest of the division only?

Of course I disagree. There was nothing wrong with that hit at all.

By the rule book, no. It's technically a 'clean' hit, but there's no doubt he was trying to hurt Pisani. This isn't the only case of this happening either, Raffi Torres for the Oilers has done this a few times as well. MacT didn't say anything about him deserving a penalty, but he did question the unwritten code between players; the gentleman's agreement.

Still can't say I agree But as a fan of two teams who don't particularily like Edmonton, I am a little biased, I can't stand MacTavish...well..except when he was bashing Magoo, that was ingenious.

How can you say this with such absolute certainty? Are you somehow reading his mind? Seriously, I don't Sutton's the kind of guy who would intentionally try to injure someone just for the sake of doing it... maybe in retaliation for something, I don't know. In this case, as you said, it was a clean hit and the shoulder to head impact probably had as much to do with heights differences as with intent.
