Fayne for Hemsky and a 4th

We're not adding picks to Hemsky to return a UFA.

Salvador for Hemsky makes some sense, I think NJ needs to add a small piece though.

im scared because he is on the Oilers and Sather is the Rangers GM and they usually make a trade. i can see him throwing a 2ed round pick away for Hemsky if i see this on deadline day as a Rangers fan im gonna be pissed.

HAHAHAHAHAHA you're funny!, do you know the value a 2nd rd pick truly holds?

from 1996 -2005
SECOND ROUND (326 picks)

4 became dominant players. (1.2%) (considered an elite player by fans/media outside their city)
70 turned into decent players. (21.5%)
252 were short lived or busts. (77.3%) < 100 NHL games

With Ference and Mark Fraser, what role will Salvador play? We have no use for him.

You won't be for long. He'll kick start your offense and powerplay in not much time at all.

So a guy from your 20th ranked powerplay is going to kickstart our top 10 powerplay? Why isn't he kickstarting yours?

Because Eakins is using him in a more defensive role that makes him the third rw used on the powerplay. Last year, when Hemsky had a role on the top pp line more, our pp was much better. Hemsky is a great pp player.

Says who? A lot of Devils fans seem to think the value is even. And of the two, only one has been a healthy scratch this year, and the other was his teams MVP at the Olympics this year. Hint - the first is Fayne, the latter is Hemsky.

Yakupov is awesome-er, and he needs top6 RW minutes. If the both stay one has to play bottom6 minutes, Hemsky isnt the ideal 3rd liner therfore he has to go. Id rather see him go to a contender though

Value isn't really the issue. He's an impending UFA. That's not the return were looking for.

Trite Responses from Uneducated Fans with no clue about what tough is!

it has been stated hemsky goes to spots that subject his body to risk.

Areas a lot of current stars will not go.

He is awesome, it'll be a sad day when he leaves, but he's been on the wrong end of losing for too long and he deserves a fresh start elsewhere; MacTavish believes that and it seems like Hemsky is on board as well. While he has played his role on the 3rd line well this year, I think he is happiest playing in an offensive role and with the personnel we have and our intent to "build for the future" it's pretty clear his time here is coming to an end.

We have a hash tag in the Oilers twitter verse; #OFDTO (Oilers Fans Deserve The Oilers). That should pretty much sum up what you were asking there I think.

The fact that Oilers fans do not consider Hemsky to be a soft player really shows why the Oilers are such a bad team. On any other team in the league, Hemsky stands out as a soft player. If the Oilers could get some real gritty players, maybe they'd start to see the number in the W column go up once in a while. When you're building a team, you need to start with a bit of truculence.

What is your definition of soft? Because if you watched Hemsky (highly doubt that you do) you would realize he never backs off from going in the corners. He will block a shot and put his body on the line. He doesn't throw out big hits but that doesn't mean he won't engage physically. The reason why he got injured a lot in the past was cause he always went hard into the corners against any dmen. Watch the Regehr vs Hemsky battles, Regehr would destroy him every time and he would keep going back. Hemsky will be the steal of the deadline for whichever team acquires him since they won't be giving up a lot. Guy is still capable of scoring 50+ points in this league, just needs a change of scenery.

Whoever gets Hemsky is going to be pleasantly surprised, imo. He could be a huge addition come play off time at a cheap price.
