Watch 2:20 secs into it when Don Maloney does a flying tackle to help a ranger who was down.... notice guys like DUGUAY and other non-tough guys, getting involved.... THAT's team toughness.

and of course, my favorite, Nick Fotiu at 3:12 (or just watch from maloney spot on as hospodar punches goalie..hehe)... Nick comes down to the stands in his white suit to beat the guy who grabbed hospodar. CLASSIC!!
I watched part 1 too--Beck and Chartraw squaring off--the linesmen move in between and Barry sneaks one in over his shoulder catching Chartraw completely by surprise and knocking him on his keyster.

Also, for Rangerboy or anyone else, Leetch missed the playoffs...what injury did he suffer?
Leetch broke his ankle when his skate caught a rut in the ice at Maple Leaf Gardens. He also suffered some ligament damage in the foot/ankle.It happened close to the playoffs

You gotta love Youtube. Nicky coming down in the white porno suit is one of the all time best images.

You guys remember when Boxcar played for Philly. I think it was the 87 or 88 playoffs when they played against Montreal. Montreal use to do that horrendous post game thing with Claude Lemieux and some other clown I don't even remember his name where after the game they would wait until the other team left the ice then they would shoot the puck into the opposing teams net. Well Boxcar waited for this to happen after a playoff game and attacked Lemieux and beat him into the ice while Lemieux did his patented turtle. I always despised Claude Lemieux.

There are some good memories being brought back in this thread. I remember seeing a few former Ranger tough guys in other teams jerseys and it really bothering me

Domi - in a Winnipeg Jets jersey
Boxcar - in a Flyers jersey
PJ Stock - in a bruins jersey

Two guys who weren't with the rangers long but who I loved were McPhee and Ian Lapierre.

McPhee video I found on YOUTUBE for the younger fans...

I was too young for that series.I just remember Arbour bringing it up after the Rangers-Islanders incident.Arbour accused Roger of being a goon coach and pointed to something which had happened 12 years before

Didn't Leetch break his ankle slipping out of a cab after a night of drinking right before the playoffs?

The Rangers went into the stands in Detroit one night in 79/80 or 80/81.I can't find that

The Canadiens/Nordiques had a great brawl. There are two videoes because there were two separate brawls

Thanks RB, I think hockeydb has Leetch playing 72 regular season games.

Judging by Fish's Outside The Garden, the Rangers beat Toronto March 14th, 1990 8-2...regular season concluded for the Blueshirts on April 1st...what a brutal way to lose Leetchie

That 91-92 team is a pretty tough lineup to throw at anyone.

Kocur, Domi, King, Beukeboom, Graves, Messier, Cirella.

Even guys like Hardy and Moller and a callup like Janssen weren't pushovers.

Great team to go into battle with in NHL '93

That secondary defense was bad(Moller, Hardy - so damn slow), plus didn't they have Leetch paired with Cirella in that game?

The first line was Leetch-Beuke-King-Messier-Gartner
Second line was PAtrick-Djos-Orgrodnick-Turcotte-Amonte

Always ticked me off that Graves wasn't in the top 12 forwards. He was only an option on the PK unit.

Wasn't Cirella's nickname...

whimpy or something like that? I do remember one good fight between him and Tocchet in 1993 - I believe the game in which Mess came back from a rib injury and he and Ulfie swung sticks at each other. Good stuff.

Next years version was better - Zubov & Kovalev

Only took them 3 years to finally make Amonte a left handed shot as well.

I just loved the fighting in 93 though.

Nothing scarier than having Kris King (a rated 71 fighter) going up against TB and their fighter rankings for Hartman, Hunter and McRae.

Def. couldn't just swing away in those tilts.

Ah the good old days, I can't keep up with all the buttons and combos and stuff nowadays.

I think I peaked at like 4 buttons. Anything more than that and I'm about as expert as a palsy victim doing brain surgery with a pipe wrench.

Alot of options...the 94 team was pretty darn tough: Messier, Graves, Kypreos, Matteau, Lowe, Beuk, Kocur, Langdon, Lacroix

1997-1998: Stevens, Graves, Driver, Ulf, Langdon, Stock, Beuk, Cairns, Vandenbusche

2001-2002: Lindros, Fleury, McCarthy, Purinton, Messier, Barney, Malholtra, Karpa, Grosek, Kloucek, McKenna

How about the 1992-3 BINGHAMTON Rangers? Sure most people remember them for amassing 124 Points and leading the AHL in Goals For (392). But they were also the best defensive team in the AHL and led the league in PIM. Even look at Don Biggs funny and you'd have to deal with Peter Fiorentino (286 PIM), Daniel Lacroix (255 PIM), Mike Stevens (230 PIM), and Dave Marcinyshyn (184 PIM). And right behind them would be Darren Langdon, Rick Bennett, Craig Duncanson, Steven King, Chris Cichocki, and Joby Messier.

Certainly are getting generous in who you're anointing tough.

Lacroix? (in the 4 games he played)

Driver?

Karpa?

Grosek?

McKenna?

Yikes.

That was great! Beat the hell out of the devils that last minute and turned the series around and won.
