The positive news continues to come at a cautious pace regarding Nashville Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne, who has practiced with the team in recent days and appears close to getting some game action, at least at the AHL level.

Rinne says he's hoping to get green light this week to start playing games, likely in Milwaukee

Milwaukee has home games on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. After that, next Friday at home, then at Rockford and home again against Rochester on Sunday.

I'm gonna put my psychic shoes on and say he plays in Milwaukee Friday and Sunday then here with us on Tuesday.

If that's feasible I would think our Saturday afternoon game is out of the question. That would imply he'd only play one game in Milwaukee (tomorrow), then come to Nashville after that. Seems a little hurried to me.

Listening to the Predcast, before the latest information came out they thought he'd be back OR shut down (depending on playoff positioning), by March 25th.

Unless they make some big moves to improve the forwards i would shut him down for the year. No reason to risk another unsuspecting injury or loss of confidence behind a last place team with IMO to high of hopes with it's current coaching staff and forwards roster

Whose decision is it? Trotz, Poile, Korn, trainer/doctor??

Listening to interviews with Pekka on the radio and videos of him after practice, it seems to me that baring a significant set-back or another freak infection; he will be back on Bridgestone Arena ice for several games before the end of this season. I know he is severally itching to get back to playing and unless the doctors/trainers think that there is still somethings that could go wrong with his hip, I think getting him back for some games this year will help us going into the off-season and next year! Just my $.02 of course!!

Which I agree. This was the 4th worst team in the NHL last yr. Currently they are 6th worst BUT they are 4 pts from the playoffs. Honest, they will move up into the playoffs just with an improvement with Rinne. They would have to make up a pt in the standings every 4 games. Rinne alone could do this.

Sellers, probably not. Spectators, likely. But buyers? That might not go well.

Rinne on fire in the playoffs would be frightening to everyone else. I've always thought the Preds would be the team that wins the cup from the 8th seed on fire riding Rinne as far as they can.

I could see the Preds do nothing, or make Enoch have a heart attack by making a trade to upgrade their backup goal and scoring and go for a playoff run.

I probably would bang my head against a wall if we become true buyers, and the bought piece is a rental.

I agree that Rinne in the playoffs is a game changer as is Weber.

What too optimistic for you? Go buy some sour patch kids because I'm an optimist.

I have said this for a half a decade now, I see the Preds as the team that is a cup winning 8th seed.

I'm just saying, given how much negativity has rightfully been thrown around this year, that's a pretty huge leap of optimism haha
