I just posted this in the rumors thread:

Quote:
Terry Bill & Steve ‏@TBSonK97 2h
Hockey insider Steve Zimmerman says that Sam Gagner is off to LA.
That is the tweet. Here is the link as well to it.

Gagner to LA? Can anyone vouch for this guys credibility?

They are **** and balls morning show.

It's quite odd that they'd post anything resembling a rumor though.

Maybe it's like when Wanye was right about something before anyone.

I'm not sure if they caught wind of something or what, but someone PM'd me the tweet so I figured that I'd post it here in the event that it was true.

You can tell by their other tweets that they are jokers, but like I said it's an odd thing for them to throw out there. Who know's though because K-Rock has a relation with Global and Global has sports guys.

Another thing about getting marginal players back (instead of a draft picks) is that it adds a contract which is always a consideration as well.

I would think MacT would want contract spaces free to add UFA players that he feels will legitimately fill holes this summer instead of having contracts taken up by whatever flotsam and jetsam that other teams are willing to give up in trades at this time of year.

That's not insignificant at all. Interesting if that's where Mac-T's heads at, and probably good for the organization too.

What I can personally gather from what Mac-T said to the media is he plans to promise almost nothing, so that if he does deliver on the deals I'm sure he's currently working on, it will come as a "surprise" to everyone.

It's not, that's a local radio morning show, basically just making **** up to be "funny"

I think there's been enough smoke around the "Gagner to LA" talk that it has to be considered a legit rumour. If I had to guess, I'd say it has to be at least 50-50 that it actually happens.

With Eberle and Yakupov potentially being on the table would anyone do a Yakupov for Myers trade? If not where can you see them going and what for?

If we deal one of them I want a big and gritty 2C, a top pairing D, or a legit power forward as the main component in the trade return. I wouldn't deal Nail for Myers.

' The Flyers reportedly held trade talks with the Edmonton Oilers prior to the Olympic break, and are believed to be interested in forward Jordan Eberle.

Oilers GM Craig MacTavish prefers not to trade Eberle, but would consider it if the right offer presented itself. '

http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/phi140226.html

So if this is true, what would we need back to make is worth our while?

Couturier or Brayden Schenn + would be my asking.

yep value wise i think this makes sense.

Couturier, Coburn, Simmonds

for Eberle + Klefbom/marincin

I only put coburn there because of the oilers bone for him.

I agree with Raab. I'd also do a swap of N.Schultz and L.Schenn in there. No I don't think he's the answer to our defense, but I'd be willing to take the chance on the former 5th overall pick. Sounds like they don't exactly think too much of him anymore and I heard N.Schultz was a guy they'd look at.

I don't see any legit top pairing D on their roster. I have no interest in trading Yak or Ebs for anything less.

I could see Couturier/Simmonds + Coburn maybe being available for that package, definitely not all three.

In a deal like that, the Flyers better be giving up all three of those pieces or if you're the Oilers you walk away.

All the talk has been about PHI adding a d-man at the expense of all their forwards. Really don't see how them getting Eberle solves anything.

This is the team that bought out Bryzgalov (he was bad, but wow) and Traded a Vezina trophy winner, then picked up Steve Mason. So, it doesn't matter what it "solves" for them, they don't seem to have a clear picture of what they need to solve.

Edit: They bought Daniel Briere and signed Lacavelier, for some reason.

The Briere buyout makes a lot of sense to me, the rest though not so much.

Well I don't see that phone call lasting longer then 5 seconds. Adding just two of those players would improve our defense and make our top 6 tougher to play against. Two huge glaring weaknesses on this team.

Who cares if it does, Eberle is the best player in the deal, and should command a decent return. If you're included a top-end defensive prospect as well, that's the price. It cost the Oilers Nothing to Keep these players, but it will cost them alot to sell them short.
