Seeing how Zenon barely plays, there is no speculation needed.

The guy was on waivers a month ago and can't play... maybe they'll get a 6th/7th if they're lucky

Konopka has gotta be the Top 9 Forward that Nonis wants

As funny as it sounds a top could move a 6th for him. wouldnt surprise me.

Yes he was on waivers but Buffalo Claimed him before anyone else could so there could be teams that wanted him.

I feel like some team will trade a late pick for him and their fanbase will have the same reaction we did when our "big" move at the deadline was Bob Corkum...

Buffalo should trade him for any pick they can get.

What could we even get for him? A conditional 7th? Maybe?

People are making jokes but I love Zenon Konopka. I remember a couple years ago in the playoffs against the Rangers, he would take the face off and get off the ice immediately. Sounds funny but he won us a lot of draws.

Konopka is also remembered very fondly by Isles fans. He'd do the same thing for us, win a draw and make a bee line for the bench. He's not much of a hockey player in all other phases, but he's a good faceoff guy and a fan favorite because he cares and is a passionate guy. He really is perfect for a rebuilding team for a year or two. After that, it's time to move on to the next team.

He was winning them at a 66% clip this season. He also helped Granlund become respectable at face offs this season.

I used to be a huge Kenopka fan, a great 4th line pugilist and FO specialist. What more could you want? Then as the NHL sped up, his lack of speed became a bigger and bigger issue. Now he's useless because he just can't keep up. Unless there's a team that needs a guy to take FO like the Rangers used MacTavish when they won the cup (take the draw, get off the ice), there's no use for him.

So put him in the minors where he can stick up for the young kids and teach them how to win draws.

Whenever He and Prust fought, I used to want them to be on the same line and cause havoc.

I thought because he was picked up off of waviers, we could not trade him? Wrong?

Pretty sure this is correct. Don't they have to offer him to all teams that submitted a claim first?

I'd take him just to teach the Blues how to win faceoffs

I think there is a timeline before they can be traded. Not sure how long tho.
