It's cyclical. First we love, then we hate, then we love again. I equate it to the how it was for the late Dale Earnhardt.

Once Ovie starts sucking again everyone will get behind him and hope he gets his "shot at the Cup".

Edited to say: Do people realize how silly they sound when they type "all he does is score goals"?

If you are talking about Moulson, then no, not silly at all. If you are talking Ovy, yes, that's crazy talk.

yeah it is absurd - he clearly allows a lot of goals as well.

Smh at these oiler fans, Hall could dream about becoming the level of Ovechkin. The dude has double Halls goals, Oiler fans never fail to amuse me.

I wouldn't move Karlsson for Ovie. Without Karlsson our group of defensemen is literally the worst ever.
Methot - Ceci
Cowen - Gryba
Phillips - Wiercioch
We'd give up more shots than the Maple Leafs.

Non-oiler fan here, I would never trade Hall for Ovechkin.

Get off your high horse.

Don't even know who Devils MVP is....
Jagr ... A 42 year old UFA?
Elias 38 years old
Schneider only one more year on contract.
Henrique / Zajac?

ID trade them all for Ovie and Caps still say hell no and rightfully so.

It's going to be a long couple years as a Devils fan.

Considering Skinner is pretty much a poor man's Ovechkin... Yes I would make that trade

I would totally give you Henrik for Ovechkin, but only if we could trade you his twin brother for Backstrom.

Pavelski's defense is worth the 10 goal difference.

Hall for Ovechkin? No thanks.

Ovi would get eaten alive for his defensive play here and would be driven out of town within a year.

He'd probably drop to a 40 goal scorer with a nice -50 beside his stats if he played with Edmonton so I choose to keep Hall.. 22 Years old, Best LW in Hockey and he is on a great contract for the next 6 years.

Maybe I'm just really against OV, but I don't think most teams would/should trade their best player for Ovechkin... His defensive positioning is horrible, his contract is huge, and we've seen his best (which was incredible though, btw).

Anaheim - Nope (Perry/Getlzaf)
Boston - IDK Probably would (Chara/Bergeron/Rask) --> deep team with less elites... might work for them
Buffalo - Yeah (Girgenson? Myers?)
Calgary - Yeah (Monahan?)
Carolina - Yeah (E. Staal?)
Chicago - Nope (Toews/Keith/Kane)
Avalanche - Nope (Mackinnon/Duchene)
CBJ - IDK? (Is the MVP considered Johansen?)
Dallas - Nope (Seguin/Benn)
Detroit - Yeah? (Datsyuk) --> Just because of age
Oilers - Nope (Hall)
Florida - Yeah (Barkov)
L.A. - Nope (Kopitar/Doughty/Quick) --> Age/Messes up their game-type
Minny - No? (Suter)
Habs - No (Subban/Price)
Nashville - No (Weber)
NJD - Yeah (Schneider/Henrique)
NYI - Nope (Tavares)
NYR - IDK (Lundqvist?)
Ott - Nope (Karlsson)
Philly - Nope (Giroux)
Phoenix - Nope (OEL)
Pens - Nope (Crosby/Malkin)
SJ - No (Pavelski/Couture/Thornton?)
STL - No (Pietrangelo)
TBL - No (Stammer)
TOR - No (Kessel)
Van - Yes (Sedins/Kesler)
Caps -----------
Winnipeg - Yes (Trouba/Kane)

So what I think is that 8/29 teams would for sure, 5 teams I'm not sure of, and 16 teams wouldn't. His age/contract/no-defensive style are the main reasons I wouldn't trade most team's MVPs for him. I'm not a very big fan of Ovechkin's so I can see people not agreeing with me. The teams I bolded are the ones I'm not sure about, but most likely they don't trade their MVP either. This list doesn't even take into consideration teams that would have to shed more salary/good players in order to take on Ovechkin's caphit.
