Against the Habs too.. albeit they aren't doing too well, still a good matchup.

How much does the Continental Airlines Arena hold?

In fairness to them, there was a snow storm in the area tonight. I watched the game, and the RDS guys kept mentioning it, and showed shots from outside the arena. Didn't look too pleasant.

I thought there was a huge snow storm.

Anyways I think that when they move to Newark, that the attendance will improve dramatically.

Oh yeah, there is a snowstorm in the New York region, and in Ontario too, that's probably why..

Edit: What others said.

One of the main problems is the location of the arena. From what I understand there aren't any trains that go to the arena and it's really difficult for people to drive there. It's more trouble than its worth.

Anybody that drove to that game took their lives into their hands. The roads were THAT bad.

And isn't there a stickied thread somewhere for attendance talk?

Blame it on transit or the weather, but the Devils in recent history has been an organization that regularly had problems selling seats. Although they have had a world class goaltender and generally a winning team, the on-ice product continues to be dull. The team has perenially been one of the most boring teams in the league.

I think the style of play certainly adds to the equation.

True, but also add in the fact they have terrible location like someone said, and they have to compete with the Isles and Rangers for fans, along with the Nets and Knicks, where basketball is more popular than hockey. Moving to Newark should probably help.

It must be too exciting for people to watch in person.

It's nice to see that 10 year old stereotypes that are no longer accurate are still going strong.

Besides that, a win is a win, you don't get style points. If my team goes 82-0 by hypnotizing the other team into thinking they are chickens while scoring over and over again on the now vacated net, I'm all for it. Wouldn't be exciting, but who cares.
