If you trade Legwand, you move Cullen off the fourth line ....

If he isn't signed, move him.

Well if he wants to walk he can, there is nothing Poile can do to stop him with the NTC. That said, with his dedication to this team, I am not sure that he would do that to the team.

If they offer Mantha you take it and run. It looks to be an excellent pick for Detroit. Would be shocked if they gave him for Legwand, but if they do... take it and run. I'd even throw more in our side, including Ryan Ellis.

I believe it's going to be DET 1st for Legwand. Detroit is hovering at the middle of the draft and the Preds would be interested in a top 10 and top 15 pick. Mantha would be a fantastic haul.

with Detroit no longer a division rival this just seems like the logical solution for everyone. As cool as it might be to have the first draft pick be a Pred forever, a trade to his hometown team would not be any kind of "disrespect" that some folks seem to be worried about.

I just hope that Leggy at least lets Poile talk to some other teams so we can get as good a deal as possible.

they have agreed on 3 years, problem is money. I don't understand the public haggling.

My opinion-Legwand will get a 2 x 10 deal as an UFA. I offer him 3 x 14 and take my chances on the cap continuing to rise. Pay him 5.5 next year as a good faith and Pred for life award, 4.5 year 2 and 4 in year 3.

I've heard that Legwand wants to retire a Predator and will use his NMC to thwart any attempt to be moved

and what I mean by retire a Pred, he'll retire before going to any other team in the league; I hope my source is right.

Hope so. I hate when millionaires say it's only a business decision and they have to take care of their families. Part of the reason I'm no longer a season ticket holder is because of Suter and Weber's "business decisions". Lack of loyalty in professional sports makes me nuts.

Of course Leggy's wife could impact his decision as much as Suter's allegedly affected his to sign with the Wild.

So we should settle for mediocrity because of fear that we can't get any better.

Great sales pitch to ticket holders!

To Detroit: Legwand, Ellis
to Nashvile: Anthony Mantha

(and I'm growing to like Ellis)

I would keep D. Legwand but would just pay him less and have him stay on the second or third line. Then get a true 1st liner on the 1st line.

We can't seriously be entertaining the idea of keeping legwand… he is our best bargaining chip at the deadline to get the help we need in our prospect pool. If he wants to come back here at the end of the season fine, but come on we have to move him.

Also, giving him 5.5m? That's insanity. He is only going down from here.

I wouldn't give Legwand anymore then he is making now as he's going to be 34. Leggy saw what happened to Erat. The grass isn't always greener on the other side and he'll never have the kind of role on another team that he does here. If he is fine being a 3C and PK duty on a better team that has a better shot at a cup then he should waive and get traded. If winning the cup is his goal then it isn't going to be in Nashville before he retires.

Yea I wouldn't at all be surprised to see Legwand get $5M+ on the open market. I just hope it's not from us. We need a change - and this is coming from a Legwand fan.

Sounds good, but doesn't Detroit have to agree to this? Why trade their top prospect for a guy who is quickly approaching retirement, and a third pair D.

Because of course the Wings are in such a hurry to get rid of their best scoring prospect in years and the only thing slowing it down is Poile being scared of his own shadow or something.

You realize that a trade requires the cooperation of the other team, right?
