wow, much better return for Forsberg than what was reported out of VAN.

great trade for PHI, and Foppa could be the piece that gets NSH further in the playoffs.

Sucks losing Parent, but that's the only thing that even stings a little. Upshall was never going to get it done here with our wing depth, and the picks are just picks.

I'm just THRILLED this got done without Radulov or Weber\Suter being involved, and even keeping Franson is a pleasant surprise in regard to team needs

it is ON LIKE DONKEY KONG!

still not finalized..forsberg has to accept the deal and

"It is important to note that while the two teams may have agreed on the players involved, the deal is not official until it is approved by the league via a trade call involving both teams and NHL Central Registry. Sources say that call has not been completed, so it is premature to say that the deal has been finalized, only that it has been tentatively agreed to by both teams and it is expected."

so if this deal goes ahead probably good deal for philly.

Clearly a good deal for both teams. Philadelphia gets a quality return and now have a very solid foundation for this defense with Parent, Pitkanen, and Picard all under the age of 23.

Nashville acquires the best player in the world and strengthens there quest to win a Stanley Cup, the ultimate prize. If I could pick teams right now, I'd rather be a fan of the Preds I can tell you that.

I think both matters are formalities at this point.

I assume Foppa gave his ok to go to Nashville before they started negotiating.

I love that we got Parent and Upshall, and Nashville has just become my team to cheer for in the playoffs.

Just like I was telling nomo earlier today, I just had a good feeling this trade was going down.

Honestly, I didn't. But if you told me it was under these terms (no Radz or Weber) I would have said done deal.

I am beaming.

like i said in the other thead...

you guys were the single elite team with the kind of latitude to make this deal...

i have been talking about you guys specifically on a completely seperate Kings board for a couple of days now.

be proud of your GM, he's done you ALL a real solid!

I am driving down south next week, so if you want I could stop by Toronto, pick up the cup and drop it off at Nashville City Hall if you want.

I have to get back to class(I've now left on two separate extended bathroom breaks to head to a computer lab)

but let me just close this for now by saying...

PETER FREAKING FORSBERG. It hasn't even sunk in.

Great trade for both sides. Philly gets a solid player in Upshall and an oustanding prospect in Parent. Not to mention the 1st and 3rd.

And we load up for the playoffs.

YOu didn't trade Parent, Upshall a 1st and a third for Forsberg. You just traded them for the STANLEY CUP.

This is obviously one of those trades that if Nashville wins it is a great deal - and a pretty decent one if they can resign Nashville (provided they don't win the cup). That said, if they can't do either then this is a terrible deal for Forsberg.

Nashville took a big risk, but you have to when you are in the position they are in right now. I like the risk, first place team - got to go for it.

Everybody saying Patient Poile would never pull the trigger, but we have never seen him on the verge of the Cup.
Now we see the value of obtaining the "best player available" in the 2005 draft when everyone was screaming that we already had too many defensemen and we have no centers.

All Hail to David Poile!

Guys, Forsberg is STILL a GREAT hockey player, .....man, what we missed here in Philly all those years in the lindros trade.....good luck in the playoffs.

If he resigns there, the Preds are set up(playoffs) for the next FEW years!

what i've noticed is Forsberg health condition has been overlooked.. he has been unhealthy for the last few years, what happens if he plays 3 games and tears his groin? a healthy forsberg would be worth close to this, but the big test for nashville will come against the currently struggling ducks in the playoffs, but the preds look playoff bound... in mid june we'll see if this deal was worth it becasue it could turn up very very bad for Nashville his i njuries over the past 18 months according to forecaster.com goes as follows, groin, groin, groin, knee, groin, groin, wrist, ankle, back, flu, ankle, foot/flu, concussion, groin. With that in mind Forsberg is a lot like hasek, one of the best when he's playing, but is at a high for injury risk, and just like if hasek can stay healthy int he playoffs same goes for forsberg and nashville the preds will be a force in the playoffs if he's healthy, and just plain strong if he isn't. still i think they should have been able to have him for half that, but either way good luck.

Even without Forsberg Nashvilles been **clears throat** good. The groin thing was due to his feet and having broken my leg and foot I know exactly how you can pull your groin.
