It's a tough tough call losing a D-Man like Markov. Good defensemen are hard to come by.I was pushing for the Habs to move him if they can get something good in return. I wouldn't do it for a just an average Joe or two. Not some crappy draft picks either.

I'm all for packaging Eller up for a top line scorer, but I don't trade him just for the sake of trading him. Only trade him in a big deal.

I'd definitely seriously consider moving him in a deal to bring in an Evander Kane or Ryan Kesler.

I have a question: Which of the two following options would you prefer?

A) Trade Markov. You get a handful of assets, but nothing as good as him. Middle 6 forwards at best eventually and a low first round pick. Also, you miss the playoffs OR for certain lose in round 1. Next year, you have to find a UFA veteran offensive defenseman. Whom, heh, may or may not end up being Markov, if his new team doesn't sign him. And you get to complain about MB because he traded our all-star D and created a big hole on our roster.

B) Keep Markov. You don't get any assets, but you end up resigning him for three years. This year, you make the playoffs, and may or may not pass the first round. Next year, Markov is around, one year older. And you get to complain about MB because he was inactive and didn't improve the team.

Which would you prefer?

you can't guarantee a round 1 loss without Markov

@GagnonFrancois selon mes infos, l'interet pour Markov vient de LA si jamais MB n'arrive pas a ses fins. Scott Pearson et Linden Vey #target

Like the article says, MB plan is to build around futur and he will refuse any good young present/futur for a old Markov.

Pretty meh ? hahaha what are you talking about. King will never be a 65 pts per year player. He is physical, responsible defensively and impossible to away from the front of the crease.

Scott Pearson has not played in the NHL in 15 years.

If you can't get the name right...

Option B. If we get mediocre players for Markov, I don't want us having anything to do with it. I want a good roster player for Markov if we are to trade him.

Just saying I would rather have Clifford than King. With that said though we really don't need any more grinders.

I used to watch Scott Pearson in junior. Him and Metcalfe and Laforge and I forget who else had a great line brawl one time. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't trade Markov for him. Or for him and Vey. Or him and Vey and Tanner Pearson. Etc.

Many tears would happen.

MB would probably trade him mid game to a team we're playing against.
