obviously it's a slam dunk if we win the cup, a great deal if we get into the finals, a good one if we go deep...but i think it's a deal we had to make, and one we could afford to make.

Nice!

Not necessarily a Preds fan, but a long time fan of Kariya. I hope this makes the all difference in the playoffs if neither of my teams in the east can come out on top... and given that it's highly unlikely the Leafs or Pens will be doing so this year... best of luck!

Its been four years since I sported this avatar! My favorite player is finally on my favorite team. I just got home from work and saw the news.........THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! UNBELIEVABLE!

I know Forsberg's health is a risk, and lets be honest, his groin and ankle are NOT in good condition. That said, we just added one of the top 5 players in the game without giving up anyone that was going to make an impact on our roster for the next 2-3 years.

Concerning news about Ryan Parent....Bulging disk? Was he damaged goods? Personally, I felt Parent had the best chance to be the a Robyn Regher type guy on the back end. The Flyers got a great player, hopefully his back will be fine.

The first....it was going to be 27th or lower...I'm not worried about it, and the third round pick is conditional on resigning Forsberg (and who would honestly care about a third round pick if Forsberg resigns with the team????)

Up here in Toronto, we had a Baseball GM that had the nickname "Stand Pat" who never traded anyone for no one and tried to build a team through drafting and prospects. Then he traded for Joe Carter, Robbie Alomar, and Devon White and became "Trader Pat" picking up David Cone in a deadline deal and Jack Morris, Dave Winfield, Dave Stewart and Paul Molitor as free agent signings along the way who were all keys to their back-to-back World Series Championships.

It's called turning the corner guys.

Welcome.

I'm freaking excited. I know this isn't instant cup but we are stronger going into the end stretch of the season and the playoffs.

I've had all kinds of people calling me today. Friends saying they saw the trade on ESPN and on our local news.

It sucks to see Parent and Upshall go. I've typed my thoughts on them in numerous places. Upshall struggled with some badly timed injuries and a hard lineup to crack. Parent is going to be a good one but we could afford to trade him due to our defensive prospect depth.

Regardless. Our team makes a statement saying we are going for it this year. A deep playoff run would be awesome for our city.

This was a must move by the Preds, and a good one. Sucks to see this being a Wings fan, but without Nashville going deep into the playoffs they're in some serious financial trouble.

And what a freaking weekend to be going out of town.

I'll try to be one of the few people there on Monday if I get back in town soon enough.

Make it loud Saturday night!

Enjoy every second of him, Preds fans. He's such a treat. It was the happiest day of my sports life when I heard he signed with the Flyers. I'll be on your side during the playoffs.

P.S. I think he's getting a great fanbase with a lot of knowledge. You guys have been great throughout the whole debate on where Pete would go. If he had to go somewhere, I'm glad it's a place that will appreciate his talent and not be dicks about it, either.

We gave up a lot in 3 firsts but one hasn't panned out, another is a prospect at a position that we all knew we would trade from, and the third has yet to even happen yet. I really don't see how this hurts our future so it makes good sense to me.

Garret... as to why? If Avery is your teams big deadline pick-up I can see how you would be a little jealous.

I'm not jealous of Forsberg at all. I'd be jealous of the Preds if they win the Cup but never over Forsberg. I've seen him injured all the time & while hes a great talent while healthy I would much rather JJ or shut down defender which the Rangers need.

Avery is exactly what the Rangers needed & it shows. They are 3-0 since the new lines were created & Avery on the team full time. Hes stuck up for Jagr when nobody else was & he's had a huge impact on the team since the trade.

Congrats guys. I was really hoping the Wings would get Forsberg but we just don't have as many assets as you guys do/did. Seeing Forsberg and Zetterberg together would've been awesome. Anyway, good luck, but not too much.

From a Sharks fan, congrats on Forsberg. Nashville only overpaid if he gets injured severly and quickly, otherwise, if he is healthy, then you stole him plain and simple. Hindsight is great like that, eh?

Nashville was already my second favorite team in the West, and I'm glad to see that the Ducks road to the cup (should it not roll through SJ) just got a whole hell of a lot tougher.

Congrats! I have always respected Nashville and appreciated the team/fans (including one of my favs, Dumont). Good luck with your cup quest. I hope you win the west. On that note, the Sabres should become sellers, right? j/k.

And I knew this was coming but why couldn't they have waited until the 21st, so I could have seen him in the Philly/Buf game on the 20th?

Enjoy the game, Enoch.

Well I'll be damned, so it happened! This hasn't quite sunk in and besides, there isn't much to say that hasn't been said already... It's sad to see Parent go but obviously if this is what it takes then I'm all for it!

Bring it!
