May as well include Ovechkin in that return.

yeah cause caps got so bad they got ovechkin...wouldnt have happened if it werent for jagr trade.

I wonder because of this forsberg trade, what would be the return we would get for jagr

3 1st rounders + top prospect?

That's not neccesarily true. They were pretty bad before the trade.

Yeah, the Caps were pretty much already the worst team in the league when they dealt Jagr. Despite having one of the leading scorers (Lang), the top scoring defenseman (Gonchar), and Jagr still chipping in at a point per game.

They would have been shooting for the lottery pick regardless.

And the Rangers trading Jagr for picks isn't gonna happen.

One, because they think they can make the playoffs this year, and if the team keeps playing like this, they will.

Two, Jagr is a tough player to trade at this point. He's widely commented that he loves it in NY, and there's nowhere else he wants to be. If I'm not mistaken, he publicaly said that he doesn't want to play for another franchise in his NHL career. I think that'll make a lot of teams leary when it comes to trading for him. If he doesn't want to move and is forced in a trade, how well is he going to play?

Just not likely to happen.

I can't believe that was actually the trade.

i know.. like seriously if jagr leads the rangers to the cup.. then that trade might go down as the biggest lop sided trade ever

I dont think anything can come close to when philly traded forsberg (the first time) + 3 other good players, a few picks, and money for Eric Lindros. But it does go up there.

One thing to also keep in mind, if Jagr is traded the caps are off the hook for the portion they are paying. Thus the acquiring team foots the whole bill.

Can anyone actually confirm this with something other than a Brooks or another news paper guy's article? Like is their a press release from either team stating this?

I was under the impression that this was just speculation the entire time.
