Ryan Smyth on the Block.

From what i heard, gainey talk a lot with GM Lowe, and they are speaking of Horcoff, and Markov .. But, Smyth is apperently on the block, so i'll like to think that gainey could try a big move ..

To Montreal : Smyth, Bergeron, Horcoff

To Edmonton : Perezhogin, Markov, Ryder, Danis

I don't know who we're going to get, or who we're going to trade with, but I see Souray being traded at or before the deadline.

You heard it here first...

Ok, I've never made an official prediction on here before - and I know this thread is kind of a joke - but I have a pretty strong feeling about a couple possibilities and I want to go down as an HF Boards legend by correctly making these predictions...

It is still a bit hard to tell, because the next game or two might change our approach. Still... with Kovalev now out, I can't see us dumping the kind of futures that Nashville just gave up in exchange for a long-shot at the play-offs.

That said, I really feel something might be brewing with Columbus this weekend. Whether it is for a rental (Carter), for Nash, for Federov or for Zherdev, these are two struggling teams in opposite conferences who look like they would be prime trading partners. They play this weekend and I think something might get done...

1st prediction: Something involving Zherdev

Secondly, if Bob does make one move like this, I think he won't stop there. After witnessing what Forsberg fetched, I think that Gainey has to try and move our most valuable UFA. Souray will move, but only if Gainey gets a young defenseman who is already NHL ready. He won't want to look like he is completely throwing in the towel.

2nd. prediction: Souray out the door

Just to get down a few other vibes I've had. Edmonton and Colorado both want to shake things up in hopes of making the play-offs. Souray would be perfect for Edmonton, but if they are no closer to the play-offs at the deadline then they can't afford to make that move. I also think Colorado would be interested. My psychic powers are also telling me that one of these teams will bite on Ryder. Remember you heard these names here first: Schremp, Lupul, Leopold, Svatos, Laperriere.

Apparently Edmonton doesn't want anything to do with Sammy... I've read that on the Edmonton Sun website I think... sorry can't find the link.

TRADE ALERT !!! TRADE ALERT !!!!

I am on the phone with my Habs contact ( ex coach of an ex Quebec team , that i can't name ) , and he says that the Habs are in a sprint discusson for a trade with Dallas , and that it's not just a rent

Saku Koivu and Andrei Markov to Dallas ,
Robidas and Ribeiro to the Habs .

He said that Dallas need a better puck moving d-man and a better defensive center , and that the Habs will have with this trade , the legitime first center they look for so long , and a local proved 4 th d-man .

My source is very happy about this trade , and is thinking that the Habs steal the Stars .

Great thread idea!!!
------------------------------
I heard Gainey figured out he needs to build the team with players that will be anchored to the city even when becoming free agents. Therefore, he will try to bring more Canadians home.

Therefore, he told me he will try to deal several players by the deadline, mainly because since the beginning of the season, I keep telling him I don't like this team. We all know that a big number of our players could help different teams. Gainey is apparently looking to trade these contracts, and he doesn't care if he receives UFAs for them has he will prepare next season with the young players knocking at the door. He want's the team to be good has Buffalo within a few years.

Therefore, Alexei Kovalev will be traded to St-Louis for UFA Bill Guerin, Alexei Markov and Sergei Samsonov will take San Jose's direction for Steve Bernier (yes, an other winger) and Mark Bell. Souray will be so happy that he will sign a new contract with the Habs. Gainey will also move Niinimaa and Aebisher by the deadline.

I never tought I would say that, but Rivet and Ryder will stick to this team and be given an other chance.

in return while Kovalev will head to Anaheim for Bobby Ryan.

1. To Montreal: Jokinen and Belfour

To Florida: Ryder and Price/Halak and Rivet and high draft pick (if Price isn't in the deal)

2. Souray traded for a high-end RD prospect.

STOP THE PRESS!!!!!!

My uncle's friend's girlfriend's sister's son's teacher's husband's cab driver's pizza delivery guy's brother works at the bell center so this can't be wrong!!!!!

Apparently Rivet signed for 4 years at 3 million a year.
Ninimaa same thing.

We trade Markov and Souray to Colorado for Laperriere because Carbs loves hard-working can't score grit but no skill players.

THen we miss playoffs. And start the rebuild again.

My "sources" tell me of 3 possible deals:

1. Huge deal with Columbus involving Modin and Zherdev, with Ryder, Perezhogin and pick(s)/prospect(s) going to columbus.

2. Souray to San Jose for Marc Eduard Vlasic and a pick.

3 Kovalev to San Jose for Steve Bernier.

Here's what I think will happen...

I hate to say it, but I think the Habs become sellers.

-Samsonov to Detroit for a 2007 second rounder

-Souray, Perezhogin and Danis to Vancouver for Luc Bourdon, a 2007 first rounder and a 2007 3rd rounder

awesome

That's exactly the point of this thread.

If a "bold" prediction comes through, I'll add:
"[insert name here] is a legitimate source. [insert name here] > Eklund"
to my sig until next season begins.
The prediction must have been made at least 24 hours before though so no cheating
