Don't take this the wrong way, but where would Ott play?
I love Ott's game.He is an annoying and agitating player to play against.Sandpaper.Jam.Ott brings the elements Avery brings. The more the merrier.Ott is out with an ankle injury. He is signed for next season-$787,500 cap #.He can fight.Where would he play?He is a bottom six forward.Ott can play center and wing. It's not like Thomas Pock is long for the Rangers.Pock will be a group VI FA this summer with only 36 games played and Jarkko Immonen is a group II this summer
If we were to trade Prucha would you do it for this guy. He is 30 but has good numbers and I believe a UFA this season. Good defencemen but not old and can score.
I would hate to See Ott on the Rangers. He is basically the same player Hollweg is. And to give up Pock AND Immonen in a deal for him is a HUGE overpayment.
Pock ufa, Immonen would be on any other NHL team, when Renney plays AHL waiver fodder Krog over u, then there is a problem. Either A) Renney hates fins, B) Renney thinks Immonen is tooo slow. But if Immonen is too slow, then what is Malik/ and Orr
Although it is a pretty decent proposal, the Rangers do not need another 3rd/4th line player. The Rangers area already loaded with Dupuis, Cullen, Orts, Orr, Hollweg, Betts, Prucha (although he should NOT be on the bottom 2 lines but whatever), and Krog. Not to mention the large amount of prospects that are considered 2nd-4th line players.
We need a defensman if anything imo.
Didn't know it was your birthday...
So, Happy Birthday!
Booze up!

Sorry, but those deals are brutal.
St. Louis is not going to give up Backman on top of Brewer for a pile of crap, and 1st rounder. Sure, Brad Stuart might not have gone for much, and he's better than Brewer, but Backman is a good young defender, and there is no need for St. Louis to trade him. Malik has negative trade value right now, as he is overpaid, and sucks. Jessiman has no value, as he has bounced between Hartford and Charlotte, and hasn't shown any significant progress. Overall, he's a bust. Rachunek at the VERY BEST is a 4th defender, but I'm not even willing to give him that much credit. He doesn't have the offensive skills that many thought he had, and his defense is slightly above average, at best. Pock is ok, but he's not nearly good enough to make me think about giving up Brewer, let alone Backman. I don't think JD would even help us out there.
As for Smolinski... again, Immonen has little trade value, as he was a late cut from training camp, and has sucked in Hartford. Sure, he was ok in the time he saw with the Rangers, but he wasn't great, and he really hasn't done anything in Hartford to warrant being called up again. Krog at his best is a marginal NHL 4th liner. He doesn't fit into an energy role, and isn't smart enough defensively to be a shutdown player. Hossa can actually score somewhat, but his value isn't going to be high enough to get us Smolinski.

Some people on the Kings board said he's signed through next year.

Very cheap too for what he can do.
hmm if he is signed then id move Prucha. Visnovsky would help our PP that is for sure. Id love to get Petr Kanko from the Kings as well. He is a solid prospect.
I think it all started when Paul Ranger of the Tampa Bay Lightning was spotted in a Tim Hortons back when they were up in Montreal on January 2nd. The Ranger-Horton connection was immediate and of course the rumors began to build soon afterwards.

Still can't believe we didn't draft that guy. Afterall we did draft Joe Ranger in the 80's
if it is Svatos and a 3rd for Prucha i would do, doubt the Avs would though.
How about we expand the deal??
Svatos and Vaanenen to Rangers
Prucha, Rachunek and Immonen to the Avs.
I watch a lot of Avs games, and it seems like Vaanenen isn't much in favor with that club, so this would probably make more sense... The alternative is replace Vaanenen with Leopold
to New York: Horton, Salei, mid - round pick
to Florida: Montoya, Prucha, Kaspar/Ozo, first round pick
Montoya would be perfect for the Miami area, we get our 2nd line center, and we dump either Ozo's dead weight or Kaspar's. Salei would be a huge upgrade over Karel or he could give A. Ward a breather to get healthy for the playoff push.

visnovsky is a 30 year old all-star puck rushing defensemen who had 60 points last year and is on pace to do it again. he is never a liability in his own zone and is the kings best overall defenseman. on top of that he's a top 10 Dman in the league. he is signed next year at a $1.9m bargain. after that he will be in the $4.5m-$5.5m range because that is the caliber of player he is. I think he would be perfect for a ranger team that is built to win it now. that being said the kings would be stupid to trade him..and it would cost you way more then prucha to get him. if DL was asking for staal from the rangers for lesser players(conroy, norstrom, avery) then what do you think he'd want for visnovsky?

I still think this deal could happen but probably in the off season. Montoya+Prucha +Pock (now) for Horton or Montoya+Prucha+a draft pick (off-season) sounds about right.

that could work too, leopold is better offensively but vannenen is more physical.
