Phil Larsen

Where is he? He's not listed with OKC or under the scratches with Edmonton.

MOD EDIT-Larsen has been placed on Waivers

On waivers now, I assume to reassign to OKC. He's been great when he's been here.

I assume they won't call someone up as he's coming off injury?

I wonder if they put him on the "cancel your contract" waivers and let him go to Europe? I mean the guy has no shot here, at all.

Yes, Larsen got little future here, but as bewbies said, he was great in OKC.

I think MacT tries to stock up the AHL again, see if he can give them another playoff run.

Bewbies, I'll goback to you, what's the defence in OKC looking like now?

Gernat-Fedun
Kelfbom-Larsen
Gerbeshkov-Musil
Davidson-Hunt
?

I doubt he leaves. Probably play the year out and then look at his options in the summer. Is there that much of a demand for him this late in the year in Europe?

I personally don't know, but if you're a Danish team making a run and you could add him, that's not an insignificant bump.

I think he's gone because the Oilers probably don't want him playing over guys they have there, plus if he can't find a spot on THIS blueline, he's probably not an NHLer.

Good riddance. A slight upgrade over a guy like Chorney. Oilers are slowly learning to cut players earlier than later.

The money is the key. If this is his last stint in the NHL he might stick around to claim that 300k or whatever is owed to him.

MacT has been pretty good about that so far.

Fair point and I don't fault him if that's his call.

Meh move. This guy was like playing with house money to me. I didn't think wed get anything of value for Horcoff, and when he got Larsen I never saw him as more than a 7th D/AHL call up.

We have a pretty crowded back end when it comes to crappy bottom pairing D, and Larsen clogs it up more. Plus if he goes to the AHL he is taking development time away from the other D prospects.

Hopefully he gets claimed and moves on to another NHL team and Fedun can replace him

Danish league is a huge step down. No way he'd be playing there. Swiss/SEL maybe.

I meant more because he IS Danish, so the transition into the league would require next to no immigration paper work.

Good Day for Edmonton

First Scrivens, and then send down a guy who is a turnover machine.

I shall be the only one here who is very disappointed. Ah well, really hope he catches on with another NHL team.

He was just a little too inconsistent and then was unlucky enough to be ill.

He might clear.

I honestly was hoping Larsen would have worked out better than he did. He has the speed and some decent offensive ability and he's shown some flashes of that at points this season.

It would have been nice if he could have stepped up and been another decent puck-moving dman to help out JSchultz back there who is over his head with the minutes he plays.

It wasn't to be though and combined with Larsen's injuries/illness it was a very underwhelming addition.

Let's also remember that Larsen very likely wasn't an addition MacT necessarily wanted... but rather a "forced" salary/contract upon the Oilers for Dallas taking Horcoff off their hands.

Larsen had the potential to be a decent bottom pairing dman with the bonus of some offensive ability... but the search obviously continues.
