I really dont think Halak will get a start his weekend or anytime for that matter. I sure would like to see it happen though.

Yes Aebi will play two games in two days.

And calm down everyone... the coming of Halak should not be a good news... that means Huet is really injured (well everyone kinda knew it) and I prefer having him in the nets than Halak. This prospect is far from being the solution to our problems.

If he make is NHL debut during Huet's recovery I'll be happy for him, but not for the team.

I want Huet back as soon as possible.

Its a good measuring stick for Halak to see where he is . He has excelled at every level he has played

JR ,ECHL, Ahl and now hopefully NHL too .

Good luck Halak , wishing you well in your first few NHL games. You earned them
Slovakia pro league / QMJHL / ECHL / AHL and hopefully NHL now all that in 5 years.

I can't see him playing any worse than our goalies right now
So what would Carbo have to lose starting him a game this weekend I also would like to see him play .

I hope the team finds a way to score and play good D this weekend and most of the games left ,because if not the teams going to sink fast.
They need to get there ass's in gear and stop crying about the refs and other crap ,and start playing hard no matter what the refs call or writers print about them.
If this happens I could careless how they finish the season .
I just want them to play hard every game, and not look like a ahl team most nights.

Absolutely not. Sure Aebisher is the #2 goalie, but then Halak comes and Aebi falls #3???? #2 is there to take the #1 place in case, and there's your "in case". No need to put that kind of pressure on a 21 year old, mostly not in front of a crowd who is tough on their guys but moreso now since they've realized by looking at the standings that we're in 10th.....

And guys who want him in the net, have no idea who he is and maybe do not know that he doesn't have the greatest numbers in February, mainly 'cause of only 2 games, I know, but it's possible that he has his own mini-slump to work with right now and you would want him at home against the Canes??? Don't think so.

But Halak for Sunday? Absolutely. If you decided to call him, it's because you want him to play. If you would have decided to go with Aebi all the way, it would have been better to call Danis and let Halak help the Dogs.

But again, what if Aebi stops 40 shots in a shutout on Saturday? What do you do? Things can change really fast.....

I don't think its going to happen although I think it would be a great idea. What do we have to lose? Time to start thinking/looking outside the box.

Question about Halak

Hey guys...I just have a question here to ask you...

I havent had a chance to see many Bulldogs games this season, and I was just wondering...what kind of goalie is Halak? Is he more like Huet (technically sound, always in position, great lateral movement, good rebound control) or is he more of a Hasek type of goalie (freestyle) or is he somewhere in between?

Also, is he a good puck handler?

Thanks in advance!

Bring him in and sit him for the first game....let him get a feel of the bigs....see what goes on..get comfortable...play him in game 2 or 3...not in his first game up!

I'll be coming to Montreal for the game vs Washington on Tuesday.

I wouldn't mind seeing him but i'd much prefer Abby up against Ovechkin and Semin.

We'll see what happens.

he pretty much says..in a very short not word for word version...lol...that they should start halak so that the team can see someone new ,fresh and excited and maybe it will wear on the rest of the team and try and jumpstart a team thats dead right now....and that its nothing against abby...hes jus a new fresh face that might inspire the team...so he says start the new guy

I think Halak should start Saturday for a few reasons.

1. If he plays well let it ride and start him again Sunday and until it doesn't work.
2. The team is likely to be extra cautious around the net and play extra hard for a rookie than they already have been. A change is still a change even from within.
3. Halak has been almost dominant in the A, so why not.
4. Aebischer's last start left a lot to be desired.

I say do it

I don't think playing Halak Saturday makes Aebi the 3rd. You're just giving the kid a chance to play. He's played admirably for Hamilton so he deserves a shot. I say go for it!! Plus I watched him play at the Ricoh Centre this summer so I'd like to see what he can do with the big club.

I'd say he's somewhere in between overall... and this is a good thing, as Halak was pretty raw when he was drafted, and his continuing evolution towards improving his positioning (north and south, east and west) has been shocking. I remember watching him in the WJC, I thought he played WAY too deep in his crease and relied way too much on reflexes, too unorthodox to really get excited about despite his glowing stats. (Partially hence his draft position, I reckon).

But even going back to this time in the Q, you can see he has been working dilligently to round out his technique, and it has been fantastic progress.

Yet I still say it is a work in progress, hence I've always thought it would be unrealistic to look to him for NHL duty at this time. He may have earned a callup, and I'll be curious to see what he does if he plays at all, but heading into this week, I really was hoping he'd get a chance to finish off his transformation with another full year in the minors next year.

I'd say he is definitely being moulded towards the Huet style, though.
