Okay, I'll go contrarian and say it won't be.

His last game will be... April 12th against Chicago.

Wow. Like in no interest from outside parties or no interest from our side?

What is Poile actually doing? I'm sorry but he has been horrendously bad the past 2 years as our general manager at everything outside of the draft

Now that Rinne's back Poile's actually going for the playoffs? We're gonna get bounced in the first.

When was the last time we've had one of the better players available at the deadline?

Don't know what you'd want for him being as we're a division rival, but plenty of Blues fans would love to grab Legwand.

Poile, the organization, and fans need a serious reality check if they think Peka returning is going to suddenly get this team into the playoffs.
The Preds are horrible offensively and IMO are worse than last year when everyone was healthy.

The Preds don't have what it takes and it shows with the current standing of last *** place in the division. Teams are going to get even more hungry and the team vets are going to be on IR while the Preds fold up like a folding chair.

Before the last 2 games I'd have said(actually, I did say) you have to deal Leggy, regardless. However........ I don't see us signing 2 Centers (as if we'll even sign one) in the off-season, and if we roll Fish/Cullen/Willy/Goose next year we actually might be as awful as Calgary.

Find a taker for Cullen, ask Fish if he'll go, and find a way to give Leggy a decent not outrageous contract with him knowing we'll be moving him to a lesser role as the contract goes along.

IF both Poile and Leggy agree to let him finish his career as a Pred then I can see us keeping him. However, I would try to trade Cullen though.

Not sure if this has been posted...via John Glennon

"Poile says at this point it looks like Legwand will not be traded. He has not taken any offers to Legwand, who has no-trade clause. #Preds"

OTOH, isn't Poile tacitly acknowledging that Legwand is being actively shopped/discussed?

Thinking out loud - would Poile have phrased an answer the way he did - if Legwand has said he wants to resign here? Lets see what happens when Wednesday hits and some teams deals fall through. Hopefully Legwand is not 'pre-vetoing' all trade offers and at the same time is planning to go UFA this summer on us.

My take on @jmanasso's article is ownership wants to move on from Legwand, hence the no budget for next season yet line.

also from John Glennon "Poile says he's open to a deal, but hasn't had anything he's considered good enough to bring to Legwand for approval yet."

also put up an article about it here just recently http://www.tennessean.com/article/20...and-Poile-says

the gist of it is if the preds get an offer they feel is good enough for legwand they'll present it to him and his agent, if they don't they are happy to keep him. also mentioned that he wasn't expecting anything big this year to happen, but at least that they aren't aggressive buyers. however he didn't mention that they were looking to be sellers, which I don't get. I guess Poile is optimistic that its just a young roster that hasn't been playing well and will continue to improve if he's content to sit with what we have this season and wait it out til the draft. It just sounds foolish to me to not be pursuing one or the other actively.

Funny how the whole article.is completely different context than the tweet snippets.

It goes from Poile has not fielded any offers for Legwand to he hasn't received any offers he would approve yet..

Lots of talk about budget and a quote that says Poile doesn't expect the Preds to do anything at the deadline:

The last three sentences say it all-

"Right now we're below the line, meaning we're not a playoff team. We weren't a playoff team last year. We've got a ways to go to improve our team."

If that's the case then you better be busy Poile.

Glad Poile actually acknowledged this.

Eh my guess is he probably knows what it will take and where Legwand is willing to go. That means he either hasn't gotten an offer from one of those teams, or they offer has just been junk. I mean why make a guy mad thats been with the organization his whole career just so he can veto a trade to a team you know he is going to veto anyways?

Poile may not have plans to bring him back, but plans can and often do change.

Legwand is going to want more than the Preds are willing to sign him for. I bet that is the whole issue and that Legwand knows he will get paid this summer. He is playing hardball. Hopefully he is a professional and waves the NMC to better the organization he has grown with. He is going to leave in the summer to the highest bidder regardless.

I would agree with you on the loyalty issue if it weren't for the fact that the players have no say in where they initially play because of the draft. How would you like it if when you were ready for your first job you had no choice as to where to work? A company would draft you and you had to work for them or not work.
