I thought somebody claimed Michael Leighton immediately when we put him on waivers?

as trig mentions, almost surely either of those kids are at least another year away.

if the price is right why not re-sign henry. as long as we just keep him in milwaukee, he's a good insurance policy should anything drastic happen to our d-men.

Well I will take Upshall off your hands, I would trade you for Upshall right now.

I would also trade you Jason Smith.

Jason Smith, 2 1st rounders or Smith, 1st and Torres.

For

Weber and Upshall

Smith is signed for another year so he isn't just a rental. Most of you know what he plays like, think Brendan Witt but smarter.

Torres has been one of our best ES players this season, he is gritty, mean, hits like Tootoo but can actually score as well.

Thoughts? I guess this is totally not on topic of the thread so the mods can delete id feel necessary.

We've posted it before, its highly doubtful we trade one of our current defensemen. You're not getting Weber, sorry.

Weber is about as untouchable as it gets, probably around the league. The only way I'd even CONSIDER it would be if there were another young, nhl ready stud dman coming back....like...someone like regehr. jason smith and picks don't replace what he brings, right now.

I believe Sheldon Brookbank might get a good look next year. He's playing really well in Milwaukee this year.

I'd be tempted by it, honestly.

Like most Preds fans my excitement for this year's playoff run is off the charts after the trade that brought Forsberg our way.

Although this thread may be old, it may be relevant to refresh the discussions given the activity of the last 24 hours. I know Forsberg has made it evident that he will not enter into contract discussions until the year is over, but that doesn't mean that us Predator fans can't.

How hard does Poile need to go after signing Forsberg if/when he makes the decision to play again next year? Does Forsberg's deal move to the front of the line, and if so what does that mean for Hartnell, Timmonen, and Kariya? It would be hard to imagine Poile re-signing all four. I think this is a major step forward for the Predators organization, but if this thing fails (devil's advocate) and Preds exit the playoffs early, and Forsberg is not resigned, what does that mean for the credability of the organization? Would it signifanctly hurt relations with a local media that already underrepresents the Predators? Obviously the real answers to these questions is "who knows", but it makes for an interesting discussion.

i think the trickle down effect in this order(and given the expanded cap we may be able to sign them all):

#1 kariya (and tell him we are courting foppa)
#2 give foppa some sully-aid and ask him if he wants to stay and for how much and how long? free skates as needed.
#3 hartnell we are short on Fs not Ds so that is why he is here.
#4 kimo, not that i don't want him but this is the place we can best afford a loss in FA.

is vis up for FA or will he still be under contract next year?

I hope we can retain him. Through two games, I've been really impressed with him, and he seems like a cheap option as a third pairing d-man.

Do not resign Upshall. Right he is a Flyer. On a serious note, the Preds should try to resign all the FA's. Great bunch of players and they are all class acts. Best of luck to the Preds and their fans. Bring home Lord Stanley....
