Chicago-New Jersey

2015 4th rounder

Jeremy Morin

Devils get a good young player. Morin is from the area too. I think he would get a lot of ice time in New Jersey and establish himself. Hawks able to salvage a draft pick for a guy that will lose his waiver exemption next year.

Done. The Devils depth is painfully thin at offensive wingers like Morin.

No from the Hawks side. Morin will slide into a 3rd/4th line role perfectly next year for us.

Using the Pirri trade as a guideline, even if the Hawks look to move him, I am sure they can get more than a 4th. A 4th round pick gets you Bouchard and Regin at half salary

Another over-reaction thread from coldsteel. Ignore this post. Hawks don't do this.

Devils run away cackling in this trade, but no. The hawks would never do it for only a fourth rounder. Not enough to get back if you are going to trade him.

I feel like we're overpaying but for the sake of getting some help, I'd do it.

I think that most Hawks fans consider Morin to have a legit chance to play anywhere from the 2nd to the 4th line on wing. He's a goalscorer with an edge to his game, and he's reasonably responsible defensively. He has way more upside than Brandon Bollig, who the Hawks just signed for 1.25m per year. I believe that he will carve himself out a reasonable NHL career, playing way more than 50 games in the NHL by the time he has finished, barring unforeseen circumstances.

As a comparison, between 2006 and 2011, fourth rounders who have played 50 or more games in the NHL stands at 19 out of 150 total picks. So, there is approximately a one in eight chance that we would get a player who would end up approximating the value of Jeremy Morin on that trade, and much worse if Morin plays more than 100 games in the NHL.

This proposal is terrible asset management from the Hawks' perspective. He is almost 23 years old and now ready to play in the NHL. The Hawks organization should not act as a farm team for other organizations unless similar value is returned in a trade. The Devils, or any similar team, would be all over this trade, and the Hawks would just be wasting an asset.

No.

Morin would require a 3rd with the way he's playing at the very least. He just won AHL Player of the Month by tallying 18 points (9 goals, 9 assists) in his last 11 games. He may be getting called up to Chicago very soon with the Hossa injury.

Pirri just got a 3rd and a 5th, so what is a PPG player in the AHL with sandpaper to his game worth?

Reasons I don't want him gone:

-PPG player this season
-Hotter than **** in the AHL right now
-Might be in Chicago in the next few days as a result of the Hossa injury
-Chance to make the roster out of camp next year

His value is something around a 3rd, but we don't need another one. We got two additional third-round picks via trading Frolik and Pirri.

Agreed. Problem is that he has to stay on the team next year or we lose him for nothing. Someone is going to have to show some ****ing sack in that case and leave him on the roster no matter what the coaching staff says. Yeah, he gone.

You are really dense. Thankfully, you're not running the Hawks.
