5 Untouchables

(conducting a "what if" experiment with a friend)

If the NHL decided on a big reset and each team could only protect 5 players, which 5 should Nashville keep and why?

1. Weber
2. Rinne
3. Jones
4. Josi
5. eh...I'll go with Forsberg, unless I can keep Mitch Korn (goalie coach) instead.

HM: Smith, Hornqvist, MDZ, Wilson

These two for sure!

Weber - all world
Rinne - all world

The next three are debatable: IMO

Josi - is good but not all world
Jones - very young and learning the game, huge upside
FF - look at Jones
Horny - the ultimate competitor, gives all every game
Fisher - look at Horny
Smith - coming out of his shell despite Trotz way, gonna be a good one

Just trying to balance Offense and Defense.
Nothing against Jones. In a couple years he should be a #1/#2.

Rinne
Weber
Josi
Jones
and then the last spot is a toss up between Forsberg and Smith depending on how strong you believe in forsberg's upside vs smith's already somewhat proven talent at an NHL level.

That's it. No forward really deserves protection.

Perfect for the "Players no one would touch" list

That might be being a little unfair to Nystrom though.

I'd swap Horny and Fish. Fisher is close to retirement, I'd rather trade him but who knows he could retire a Pred if an expansion happened
