If Thomas is moved, Tallon is going to have to get another goalie before the deadline.

You're assuming Clemmer gets claimed.

But he's still on a one way contract... which would mean he would have to go through waivers if we brought him back up again.

He hasn't been sent down, only waived. Someone must be waived before being sent down but you can waive someone and still keep them up with the NHL team.

He hasn't been assigned anywhere yet, and IIRC even if we ended up assigning him to the AHL, there's like a 2 week period where he doesn't need to clear waivers, or at least it used to be like that in the old CBA.

Bottom line, I doubt he gets sent down, unless Thomas is planning to stay of course.

Wow and to think there's another day of this before the deadline. Sheesh!

Does anyone else think the only logical destination for Thomas is Washington? He will only waive his NTC to go to a playoff contender... and only a contender who needs goalie help would trade for a guy of his age.

That being said, I'm thinking Thomas to Washington for Neuvirth or Erat (or both?) would make a ton of sense. Especially since Erat is basically begging for a trade at this point and we need a young goalie now.

Don't worry. Apparently Phoenix just traded for him.

Re-entry waivers was eliminated in the new CBA

Thomas thoughts.

Pittsburgh could be a destination.

The other darkhorse could be Winnipeg. Or Toronto.

I think thomas wants to stay but we will see what happens. If he gets traded we better get a decent return.

What about Cory conacher, any chance we sign him off waivers? A young winger who was really good a year ago. Would give us some flexibility to move Goc now and see if he fits in our future plans for the rest of the year.

I noticed that. I would hope we would at least give him a chance.

Too small...after the addition of Pirri, I hope we try to get bigger players from now on.

I assume Tallon put in a claim for him, but it's hard to see him getting past Buffalo. Team needs bodies and he's a local product in a way (played his college puck as Canasius)

How long does it take to clear waivers?

TV. During Connected Hockey Show. Sounded like he talked to someone within the organization. Maybe Great8Cam can speak on Moulson with his insider people.

Dreger says Jeff Skinner could be available, I'd kill to make a run at him. Other than his size, he has everything we need from a winger.

Yeah maybe I should have posted it in here instead of News around NHL, but yeah i would love to see him here, he's a perfect fit in Panthers.

What prospects do we have left to trade other than Tallon's draft picks. Robak and Wilson? You guys know Tallon will not part ways with his picks. He's more loyal to his draft picks than to roster players he trades for or acquires via ufa. So it'll have to a roster player + a prospect + a pick. Something like that. Depends on how desperate they are to trade Skinner.

I mean Skinner isn't exactly a steal. He's had concussion issues and his +/- is horrendous (a career -40 thus far). Is that because Carolina can't play defense or is that all on him? I don't know, but no way is a Bjugstad, Huberdeau or Howden involved in that deal. I'd offer Fleischmann + Robak + a 5th or some other variation like Upshall + Robak + 4th. If they don't like it than keep him. Skinner's return shouldn't be an exorbitant amount. I'd like to see Skinner get a change of scenery somewhere though. It isn't working out in Carolina.

Skinner is worth much more than that. They won't trade him for scraps.
