Exactly. If he wants to stay in Ottawa so badly, why wouldn't he come back here this summer? Let him have a playoff run with a contender and get something in return.

Maybe he doesn't want to have a playoff run?

Then you don't want that kind of character in your dressing room.

Seriously, I donít know why Phillips is being regarded as that great leader. Heís old and experienced. Thatís about it.

He doesn't strike me as the talkative guy in the dressing room and itís not like his play on the ice can compensate.

It's the Filip Kuba debate all over again.

Disappointed we are filling a spot that a younger, more responsible D could fill. Philips as the 7, fine. Claesson, Borowiecki, Wikstrand should get a chance to make the team and Wiercioch actually get to play next year.

Rather see 7 of Karlsson, Methot, Cowen, Ceci, Gryba, Wiercioch, Claesson, Borowiecki, Wikstrand.

Even more - Phillips for Spooner; Weber for Spezza and Ryan; Cowen for Eberle

Sort that out and we'd be amazing.

BM is too tied to his "vets", even when they are not productive vets.

Chris should become an agent and represent all clients dealing with Murray. He'll make a fortune.

Should be noted Phillips wasn't even negotiating through an agent. It was just him.

You have no idea what you're talking about if you think those 3 players get that kind of return.

Glad to see Phillips staying in Ottawa. THe amount of hate coming through this forum is going to be awesome to behold

If we actually had the depth to play him as a 5-6 dman, this wouldn't be much of an issue. As it stands so far... yikes. Get ready to see plenty of Phillips on the PP.

I'm so pissed! **** you! **** Murray! This sucks balls. Hey, let's sign luke Richardson and Jason smith while we're signing old slow ****** d.

We went from having the best prospect pool, to trading half it for Ryan, and now we keep Phillips which means we will let go of a younger better d who we have no room for.

Are we rebuilding or going for win now? We've done a mix of both and now we're going to be in mediocracy forever. ****.

Then add what you want that isn't core. you said three, I mentioned 4. Eberle is out there and Oil want top D potential. Weber is out there and Nashville, after Legwand goes, is a desert on the forward side. Phillips for Spooner was the rumored return.

BM does not even think in those terms. And he should.

Have to remember, though, most of the comments were made during the middle of a really disappointing season. Most of the year was an emotional roller coaster.
