Yes it is. It's not a bad trade, it's a dumb trade.

It's like driving a M5 in the summer and a Jeep in the winter while getting an old Mustang as a backup winter car.

And Edmonton fans thought he was a legit starter

I just hope Dubie sees enough starts with Montreal to drop them in the standings a little

So Montreal gets a goalie whos played on a terrible Oilers team with NO defence, dont give anything up, AND pay him peanuts, yet people complain? Please, stop being a Habs fan if all you're gonna do is hate on them.

Won't matter who's in net if they're playing teams like the Leafs who go entire periods without a shot...

Montreal fans upset about this are ridiculous.

It's an insurance policy.

In all fairness, he put up very good numbers for 2 of the last 3 seasons. He had a bad start to the year and lost all confidence though. Never should have been put in the roll as #1 with no decent backup. Still doesn't make any sense to me, unless Price is out long term. And even then...there had to have been better options.

Habs gonna rebuild Dubnyk's game and trade him back to the Oilers for their 1st pick in 2015

LOL it cost us nothing. This is no different than a minor league trade. For some reason people are losing their minds over this?

This is a nothing trade. It cost us nothing. We didn't get much in return, but if Waite can build him up to be something halfway decent then high might have some value in the future. If not, what did we lose? Absolutely nothing

They thought that last year, when he played relatively well.

What is Montreal's goaltending like on their AHL team? Maybe this is purley an AHL move.

Loosely translated it means, "we'll square up on a future deal", but in reality, it means "please take him, no, we don't need anything in return, we're happy to be rid of him".

Dubnyk is being assigned to Hamilton according to John Lu.

What is Edmonton's record with other netminders ? Is it much better ?

EDM goalie isn't the problem, their atrocious defense is. What can a goalie do ?! Do you think Price would lead a team like EMD to the playoffs ?

At least, Mtl has some kind of defensive system and some good defenders. Dubnyk might even prove to be a steal if he can fill in as a backup in case of injury or even replace Budaj in the next few years, although he's been doing an excellent job.

Tokarski is the starter and is doing well in the AHL but has been on the bench in the NHL since Price's injury. Might just be a case where it's better to have Dubnyk than Tokarski on the bench.

Dustin Tokarski is the main goalie and he's been doing really well. I'd imagine Dubnyk would be the back-up if he gets sent there.

That's good then. I like it.

John Lu ‏@JohnLuTSNMtl 28 min

#Habs acquisition of Dubnyk from Nashville is presumably insurance in the event Budaj gets hurt while Price is recovering.
