Lets take it easy guys and lets not get false hope here. All inferno did was speculate. Lets wait for some reports from the hospital.

I all honesty, after watching that, I'll be thankful if shanny ever laces up his skates again.

The last thing I'm worried about is whether or not he plays again this season, let alone this week.

Something interesting a fellow fan pointed out...

Bernie Parent's career ending eye injury occurred against the Rangers on February 17th, 1979. Since Knuble's injury seems related to his eye, that's a little creepy.

Sounds to me like he might have just broken his cheekbone. I remember Barry Ashbee getting hit in the eye by a shot by Dale Rolfe--that one was worse than this and I really hated that Flyer team he played for--though he was basically just a steady guy and in no way a goon.

Be careful here, Fan, there's laws against this and I wouldn't want to see you or yours get into any trouble.

I didn't see what happened, but all my best to Shanny. He is a great, great player, but more importantly he is a great human being. God Speed, Shanny.

Same here, my intial recation was "thats it, career over"

We will have to wait and see what the tests and doctors say.... and more importantly, what Shanny wants to do.... he is a BA so i am sure he will want to get back out there....

Has he had a concussion before or is this his first one?

I suppose this settles the "should we trade Shanahan" question.

All speculation but if thats true thats great news. I hope he is ok and for now forget the playoffs. Lets worry about whats right and healthy for him and his family. I hope no one rushes him and then when he comes back, he comes back healthy.

Easily the scariest moment I have ever witnessed at the Garden. The place fell absolutely silent and while I am sure it would have been similar for pretty much any other player, the concern that people showed for Shanny was a testament to the man's character and and a sign of the enormous amount of respect he has garnered from Rangers fans in less than one season here.

Best wishes to Shanny.

Well said. There's something more important than hockey right now, and that's Brendan's health and wellbeing.

I'm glad the Garden cheered his name while he was down. It's touching in a way. He has come here and embodied what all of us have wanted for so long and no matter who you call up or replace him with -- he's an irreplaceable member of the New York Rangers and the NHL.

Get well soon Shanny

I just hope that Shanny is fine and returns to the ice as soon as possible. I enjoy watching him play very much and he seems like a heck of a good guy.

The response in this thread from fans all over the country just strengthens the fact that hockey fans are the most compassionate and genuine of any sport.

i think the very nature of hockey, and its limited popularity compared to other sports really dictates that the fans not only be "fanatics" but that they also tend to grow attached to their players, and the class players of the league in general. Im sure if Joe Sakic had the same thing happen, there would be an outcry of well wishes from not just Avalanche fans, but of hockey fans in general.
