I'm an Isles fan, but my heart goes out to Shanny, Knuble and their families. At times like this, logos mean nothing. It's the person that counts. Get well, Shanny... hope to see you lace them up soon....

I saw the clip about an hour ago. Wasn't a pretty sight.

Hope Shanny recovers without trouble and can get back to the game.

Hope for a speedy recovery for both guys.
Good to hear Shanahan is ok after being ko'd. You hate to see anyone stretchered off. Both players are standup classy guys.

As hard as it seems Knuble did seem to get the worst of it. Shanahan looked in much worse condition at the time. I'm surprised Knuble didn't go over and check on Shanahan after he got up. Knuble is a very respectable guy and Rangers fans wish him luck on his recovery as well.
Brendan Shanahan meant more to Rangers fans than many of the players on the team. He's a terrific guy, an amazing leader, and in my opinion, should be wearing the C if he plays next year. Get well Shanny.
Terrible to watch. At first when they didn't know who it was, I thought it looked like Hollweg and then they said Shanahan and my jaw dropped.

Thank God nothing is broken. That looked really bad for a bit. My thoughts go out to Shanny and his family; I hope he comes out of this ok. Same for Knuble- as the other poster said, logos don't matter when it comes to stuff like this.

Tests proved negative, even for a concussion, although considering that he was out cold when he hit the ice and stayed that way for quite a while, we'll have to wait and see what the final analysis is.
Tests showing it wasn't a concussion.

Some goodwill from Hockey Town to hopefully speed Shanny's recovery. It was hard to see Shanny leave Detroit, but I've been happy for his success on Broadway. I hope that there is still more success for him yet this season.

Agreed about both guys.

To be honest, though, I don't think I'd have such warm, fuzzy thoughts about the other guy if Shanahan had collided with Fedoruk, Eager or Hatcher

I seriously doubt anybody (including the doctors) could reasonably answer that at this point.

Well, considering Knuble broke his orbital bone and cheek bone, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that he probably couldn't see too well and that he was probably worried he might have suffered a serious eye injury.

Can anyone name a player that had a worse back-to-back games???

One game, it looks like he loses a couple of teeth. The next game, he gets taken out on a stretcher.

I was thinking that, but getting hit with a puck seems a lot more common nowadays... And he only lost one tooth

We'd feel the same way if it were Avery or Hollweg down on the ice. I'd never celebrate a potentially serious injury, but I wouldn't feel nearly as bad for the player.

Shanny is easily my most fave player at the time. He was the first superstar player that I ever liked in the game.

My prayers and thoughts go out to him and the Rangers

I'm not a doctor (but I play one on TV)...how could he have tested negative for a concussion when he clearly lost consciousness? Amazing to hear that Knuble has multiple facial fractures and could be lost for the season. I always liked Knuble and wish we had never traded him.

Best of luck to both guys. Forget about Messier, I'd rather have Shanny as our future GM!

Here's hoping our guys can rally around this incident and put a few good wins together "for the gipper".

Pock...

Knuble had to be helped off the ice. If he had skated off feeling no pain, perhaps he would've bent down to see Shanny. His eye was swollen shut (accordig to Al) within about 10 minutes with fractures to his face. I think he was thinking he had to take care of himself, and his teammates thought it best to skate him off the ice and get to the trainer's room ASAP. It was very unfortunate for two players who play hard and honest hockey. The Flyers may've lost a deadline trading chip too, so both teams seem to have lost something significant.

Looking at the "Lindros guide to head injuries" I would say its anywhere between 1 and 70.
