When Stempniak is on, he's a very good player. When he's not on, he's still not bad. Very well rounded. I think Penguins fans are gonna like him.

Pittsburgh has Goc, Sutter, Adams, Glass, Vitale, etc that all kill penalties. While another body for the PK is nice, it's far from something Pittsburgh needed. Hemsky matched up against Regehr year after year in Edmonton and battled all the time against him, and was always willing to take a hit to make the play.

People seem to have this idea that someone who doesn't lay the body is soft. That couldn't be farther from the truth - especially in the case of Ales Hemsky.

Stempniak was solid last season. This season he has been streaky again point wise but is still a very useful player. Best of luck to him!

probably not, Nisky been effective on the top unit and we already use 4 forwards on it. He'll probably play forward on the 2nd unit with Jokinen and Sutter with Maatta and Martin on the points once Martin is healthy.

someone gets it hahaha that's what I said to my brother and then they get a 5th rounder as well.

Heck if I the Penguins knew this i'd give up depres and a conditional 1st if Vanek resigns.

way better then Montreals offer as Depres can be put in top 4 and is cost controlled

Not exactly on topic of this thread, but I seriously doubt the Isles were looking to trade him inside the division.

I like the pick-up for the penguins. Stempniak is a veteran who isn't too old, he plays a responsible game for the most part, and he's a lower profile guy.

Decent move for Pittsburgh IMO. Stempniak can give Pittsburgh scoring from the bottom 6 and also help out on the power play.

I hear alot of people saying we should have gotten Hemsky or Vanek. Was that even possible without putting Letang on LTIR? There's still Vokouns salary (2M) that could come back on the books as well.

I'm glad to see him go to Pitts. Stemp's a classy guy, a hard worker, if he could overcome his consistency problems he would be a star in this league.

Great to see him get a chance at a playoff run.

Pitt will be very happy with Lee. Evening happier considering the price.
He should be able to play a great 2-way game on their 3rd line and if anything happens to a top 6 winger he can step up and score some goals on Malkin or Crosby's wing.

Anything happening to a top 6 winger has already happened unfortunately. Dupuis has a torn ACL and Bennett has a broken wrist. Stemp is going to have to play first line RW until Bennett gets back in about a month but it beats the alternative of a 5'7" AHL guy like Brian Gibbons playing first line RW, which has been the situation for a long time now. Hopefully Stemp can get on one of his hot streaks until Bennett gets back.

I liked both moves. Last year, Shero made big name trades and it back fired. in 09 he didnt make those big trades, like this year so we'll see. I wouldnt mind if the lines went;

Kunitz-Crosby-Stempniak
Jokinen-Malkin-Neal
Goc-Sutter-Gibbons/Bennett (when he comes back or on Sids line)
Glass-Vitale-Adams/ Pyatt

Solid move for the Pens. Stempniak doesn't quite have Cammaleri's one shot scoring ability, but he's a better all around player. When he's hot you can play him on the top line, when he isn't he's still a useful player on the 3rd line. Extremely streaky offensively though. It seems like half his goals each year come in a 10 game span. If I was an NHL GM though, I'd move more for Stempniak then Cammaleri.
