Good to have him back, doubt he'll be traded.

Great deal. Teams would've thrown double in FA and he's well worth this contract.

Teams would have thrown 4 years 20 million?

He's only played well since Maurice came. Four year deal for a few weeks of above average play? He's ideally a #6 guy. Go home Chevy you're drunk.

4 years seems a little long, but can't complain. He's a solid bottom pairing dude. The real question is whether Chevy will ever address the need for another top 4 left handed D (other than Enstrom) before Morrissey is ready for the big club.

I really don't like the thought of Clitsome or Stuart being on the second pairing.

He has played the same kind of game since he has been in Winnipeg.

Clearly you haven't seen FA the past 3 years.

He's been pretty much the same all along. And his skills, such as they are, aren't really the sort that are most susceptible to age. He's also an assistant captain. Another example of a player who isn't running from Winnipeg at the first opportunity, despite the city's inferiority complex.

His game has improved drastically since being paired with trouba, which also coincides with buff moving up and maurice being hired. I honestly don't expect his play to continue but hope it does.

What Mark Stuart calibre player has gotten anywhere near 5M in FA the past 3 years?

Your unwarranted hate for Stu has been well documented.

Don't hate him, just dislike the undeserved praise he gets at times because "character" or something.

Mark my words: two summers from now we will regret this contract.

Decent signing, maybe a bit long, for a #5/6 defenseman. However, any team that would have paid "double" in FA as one poster above mentioned, would have made a colossal error. That is Seidenberg money and Stuart is no where near as good as Seidenberg.

A $2.6m signing of a quality D is hard to regret in this day and age, and with the cap clearly going up each of the next 2 years, even less so in the future. Stuart has seem to found a good fit alongside Trouba, solid defensively, good physically, OK with the puck.

And from a fantasy perspective, he's a beast for RTS stats.

LOL.

Ok fine.

I meant to say defensemen of his play style and ability.

I'd say maybe Volchenkov, but he wasn't in the last 3 years.

Tim Gleason is also quite similar and makes 4 mil - Emelin is on 4.1

I've actually found most defensemen of Stuart's ilk are making around 3.5 mil.
