Checking that, firing within a couple years hasn't happened any time recently. Happened 3 times early in the millennium. And Nolan is the coach that was not hired back back in 97 b/c of Hasek.

i think one or both of the assistants should be fired and richardson brought up and get BMurr behind the bench too. he was a dam good coach and the combo of the three for the remainder of the season might be enough to save it. then another assistant can be hired in the off season and bmurr can go back to the office.

....do we really want a guy who is something like 200 years old behind the bench? He can barely survive the games from the press box as it is.

i think being closer to the ice might allow hi to better evaluate the team....also get a better feel for the mood in the locker room going into a important off season. with michalek and hemskys contracts up he should be evaluating them closely.

Too many guys on this team take a lot of days off and only show up when there's a chance of being traded away from the country club or the fans/media screams get too loud. Could let that slide 20+ years ago when competition and salaries were different, but not today. When you're paid millions, you show up every game.

All that said, I would rather see Maclean stick around for at least another season or two. His line changes are a pain, but there's only so much he can do with a group that simply doesn't compete.
Players loved him last year HATE him this year. WHY? Superstars were hurt last year and they loved the guy. Stars are back and the hate him. Don't get it.

Option 1. No change needed. The only change we need in our coaching is a new assistant to put the heat on Maclean a little. Someone like Luke Richardson.

i'd prefer end of the year. Richarson in ottawa, choose his own assistants.

That imo would fix a huge amount of problems.
