Darren Haydar

Any idea why Haydar hasn't gotten much of a look in the pros? He's absolutely destroying the AHL.

Absolutely no clue.

Haydar > Mellanby, Vigier and Sim

It's obvious...the Thrashers don't have room on the roster for another scorer!

Wasn't Krog tearing up the AHL too? If Haydar does as well at the NHL level as Krog does, leave him in Chicago.

The AHL is littered with guys that are 60-70pt. scorers who can't get 10pts. in the NHL. The AHL defense and goaltending is simply inferior compared to the NHL (I love AHL hockey, btw). It's almost like thinking that since one is a great scorer on one's high school team that they will definitely make the college team.

In most cases (their are exceptions of course) if you are 26 or 27 and still playing in the AHL then chances are you may not make it past the third/fourth line on an NHL team.

Yeah bu i would rather have my name on the stanley cup and be on the fourth line in the NHL than be an all-star and first line player in the AHL

And if Haydar was simply scoring at a PPG pace, I'd agree. However, he has 30 goals and 89 points in 49 games. He can skate, is alright defensively, has a sneaky slapshot, and can distribute the puck better then anybody in the AHL. He should be in the NHL next year on one team or another.

he's afraid to get involved in traffic. traffic in the ahl is totally different than traffic in the nhl. he's not an nhler.

Come on, he's not better than Kapanen!

I know the multiple reasons why guys like Haydar, Krog, etc never get a shot--but I just have to wonder when I watch guys like Kapanen play. If I were GM, I'd give him a look; what is there to lose? Ditto Sterling.

look what Metro did, couldnt break the NHL full time, went to Europe, ripped up the scoring charts and won himself a spot on the Thrashers. Seems to be doing ok too.

I hope he makes it to the coffee machine this time. Last time he was seen at Hartsfield holding an empty cup.
