names to add to shopping list for ottawa

Knowing Mucklers penchant for picking up off the main stream players, i would like to compile a list of non mainstream pickups that could be possible come trade deadline .Why this deserves its own thread is because this is not meant to be rumours and will get lost in all the threads about trades .i created this thread to compile a list that we may examine (please do not include trade possibilities only list players you may feel muckler may target). As suggested names come in i will adjust list and rate them as to there probability.i am going to start this list with 2 possibilities to start .Feel free to discuss all possibilities just no trade senarios please keep it to players in list no discussions on who can go the other way .

1. Martin Gelinas (florida)
2. Brent Sopel (LA)
3. Ian Laperriere (Colorado)
4. Martin Lapointe (Chicago)
5.Rob Blake (LA)

I think Lapointe is the type of player the Sens should try to acquire, but since he is signed for another year at a cap hit of $2.4million, the Sens would likely have to move as much salary (i.e. Corvo) to Chicago to get Lapointe, which would probably defeat the purpose as to why the Blackhawks want to move him (to rid themselves of his salary). Apparently Brett Hull said on NBC yesterday that the Sens were interested in acquiring Lapointe (and Roberts), but personally I don't see that happening. The Sens need to focus on acquiring impending UFA's if they want to resgin Volchenkov, Phillips and Emery for next season.

No thanks to Blake. We can't even begin to afford him next year.

Lapointe has another year on his contract? Hmm.. don't know if we want that either, he makes way too much money.

Yes yes yes to Lapperiere though. Salvador and Meyers are worth a look too.
