The Nashville Predators face the Phoenix Coyotes tonight for the fourth and final time this season. The Predators are unbeaten (5-0-1) in their last six games vs. the Coyotes at the Gaylord Entertainment Center. Jason Arnott posted three assists in the first meeting between the clubs this season, a 4-1 Nashville victory on October 14 at the GEC. The Coyotes have been victorious in the two meetings since - each 3-2 wins at Jobing.com Arena on Dec. 4 and Feb. 1. The Predators are 14-14-3 all-time vs. Phoenix.

The Predators (81 points) come into tonight’s contest trailing the Detroit Red Wings (82 points) by one point in the race for the Central Division crown. Tonight is the second of four straight home games for Nashville. The Preds will host Montreal on Thursday before facing the Red Wings at the GEC this Saturday. Saturday’s tilt will be the first of five remaining games vs. Detroit this season.

Predators Notes
The Preds are 30-8-1 when scoring first, 22-6-1 when leading after one period and 27-1-3 when leading after two periods… Nashville is 24-13-2 when outshot by its opponent… The Predators, who gave up two power-play goals vs. the Wild on Saturday, had only allowed three power-play tallies in the previous 10 games (42-45)... Paul Kariya, who has 45 points (24g-21a) in 48 career games vs. Phoenix, is expected to skate in his 800th career NHL game tonight… Center Peter Forsberg made his Nashville debut on Saturday night, centering a line with Kariya and Martin Erat. Forsberg has 32 points (24g-21a) in 25 career games vs. the Coyotes… Jason Arnott (1g-3a) and Shea Weber (4a) lead the Predators with four points each vs. the Coyotes this season… Center Scott Nichol, who won all eight face-offs he took on Saturday night, ranks third in the NHL in face-off winning percentage (59.1%)… Defenseman Greg Zanon ranks 20th in the NHL in blocked shots (123)… David Legwand tied his career-high in points (20g-28a-48pts) with his 20th goal of the season on Wednesday. He had 48 points (17g-31a) in 2002-03. Legwand, who now has 99 career goals, has 20 points (9g-11a) in his last 20 games.

P and T say the Preds are still trying to force plays that aren't there.

so far, not so good. more of the same, trying to jam the puck across the crease or through the slot for the backdoor, and the coyotes know what to watch for.

good thing we took vishnevski out and put in zanon. zanon will be able to describe what happened in the crease very well, he usually has a great vantage point to stand and watch it all.
