Great to see Brady Brassart get a contract, he has been excellent for the Hitmen at both ends of the ice. This is also strangely reminiscent of how Minnesota signed Joel Broda a couple years ago who was a very similar player; I'm hopeful that Brassart can put it together and be an NHL pro though.

*The curious case of Taylor Stefishen! Since being drafted in 2008, Stefishen has played 2 years in the NCAA, one in the WHL and 3 in the CIS. However, he is still listed as a Caps' prospect.

*Cissé left Boston University during the 2012-2013 season and joined Blainville-Boisbriand in the QMJHL. Here is how the CBA deals with these "special cases".

Quote:
If a Player drafted at age 18 or 19 is a bona fide college student at the time of his selection in the Entry Draft, or becomes a bona fide college student prior to the first June 1 following his selection in the Entry Draft, and does not remain a bona fide college student through the graduation of his
college class, his drafting Club shall retain exclusive rights for the negotiation of his services until the fourth June 1 following his selection in the Entry Draft.
Other players affected by this rule :
-Philippe Hudon (Drafted by Detroit in 2011) - Currently playing with Victoriaville (QMJHL) - Rights owned until July 1st 2015
-Garrett Haar (Drafted by Washington in 2011) - Currently playing with Portland (WHL) - Rights owned until July 1st 2015
-Wesley Myron (Drafted by Vancouver in 2012) - Currently playing with Kalamazoo (ECHL) - Rights owned until July 1st 2016

Feel free to correct me if I've made any mistakes/omissions!

Wow - thanks for this Booba!

I wonder if the Panthers are going to sign Brittain now that they have Luongo...

They'll sign him. I imagine the guys on this list are ones who chose to play all 4 years before going pro.

Brown's season ended last night, so it's possible Dennis Robertson signs with Carolina soon. Harvard's season ended too, but I don't see any Crimson players on the list (though I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple guys leave).

The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed Yanni Gourde to an ELC.

Quote:
The Tampa Bay Lightning have agreed to terms with free agent forward Yanni Gourde

Gourde will be on an AHL contract for the remainder of 2013-14 season and a two-way NHL contract for the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons. He is expected to report to the Syracuse Crunch this week.

Gourde, 22, has skated in 25 games with the Worcester Sharks this season, posting four goals and 25 points to go along with 26 penalty minutes. Gourde's PTO with Worcester expired on Saturday, and the Lightning quickly scooped him up.
http://www.syracuse.com/crunch/index...ni_gourde.html

I'm quite puzzled that San Jose never offered him a deal, even an AHL one, especially in light of his 25 points in 25 games in the AHL.

Watching Goodrow this year, it's apparent that skating has been his main priority of improvement. And in comparison to what I saw in November, it has improved tremendously. Although it's definitely not his strength, his skating seemed far more labored at the beginning of the season.

As for the player, he's a team-first guy willing to drop the gloves and has a pretty decent hockey sense. He isn't the flashiest guy but he gets the job done. He also has a knack for getting on the scoreboard while short-handed.

It'll be interesting to see how his game translates in Worcester.

Can't see why not. It wasn't like Brittain would be expected to be the #1 right away. He probably could use a year or two in the AHL before backing up Luongo.

I really liked Brittain from his freshman year at DU. His ACL tear seemed to sabotage his sophomore/junior seasons. Decent chance he could have made the Canadian WJC team during his sophomore year had he not gotten hurt at their summer evaluation camp. Haven't seen many DU games this year, but it seems like he's back on track.

The New York Islanders announced today that defenseman Kevin Czuczman has agreed to a two-year, entry-level contract. Czuczman will report directly to the Islanders.

Czuczman, 23, posted career highs in goals (10) and points (21) in 36 games as a junior at Lake Superior State University. The Port Elgin, ON, native’s 10 goals led all Western Collegiate Hockey Association defensemen. He also led all Lakers defensemen in points, ranking fourth overall on the team, and led the club in penalty minutes (73).
