Zhamnov may have played his last game

Also Al Morganti on sports radio 610 in Philly seems to think that the most likely scenario for Zhamnov to be moved involves a three way trade between the Flyers and Coyotes of all teams. He didn't say who the Hawks would get, only that AZ would go to Philly and then Philly would ship him to Phoenix for Sean Burke.

Comrie? I heard that he hasn't exactly impressed Hitch. He fits the bill of a good young player who will help Chicago in the long run.

The Hawks won't get Comrie for Zhamnov. That's a rediculous overpayment considering Philly already dealt a good prospect(Woywitka), a 1st round pick, and a 3rd round pick. The Hawks will be lucky to get a good prospect and a 2nd for UFA to be Zhamnov.

Doesn't make any sense for Pheonix to trade burke for a rent-a-player. They should be thinking long term, not just about this season.

Phoenix could get a fair return for Burke, so I doubt any trade will involve a marginal player or prospect. Philadephia and Chicago seem like a good mix for a three will deal, since Philly has an abundance of what both Chicago and Phoenix needs, and that's scoring.

Maybe they feel that Zhamnov is the best player to help get them into the playoff race. And if he doesn't work out, they can move him to another team for some youth. Playmaking centers are much easier to move at the deadline than Older goaltenders with high salaries.

or

Maybe they just want his salary off the books. It's not like the market for goaltenders is exactly searing.

No way the Coyotes go after Zhamnov, especially not at the cost of Burke. The Coyotes have enough centers already (they have a few centers on the wing now). If Burke is traded, it will be for prospects, picks and/or young players.

Zhamnov is far from being a terrible player, in fact I think he is a hard working player for the most part who goes out and does his job. Any team would gladly take him into the playoffs, his experience and playmaking ability would be a strong assett to a playoff bound club.

Morganti knows hockey, but when it comes to what goes on in the Flyers organization, his word is as good as yours or mine. He isn't as informed as he'd like everyone to think.
