Also, Giants close to re-signing Trumaine McBride (2 years) and Josh Brown.

That would be huge for us.
Really would be.

He's only anticipated to make 7-8 mill too, according to Clayton.

We have about 48 mill to spend now, I believe. Cutting/trading Sanchez would increase that amount too.

Factor in Verner and Howard and we'd have around 32-34 mill to spend (more with Sanchez).

I think McCown @ 4 mill a year for a couple of years would be a solid depth move.

I'd love Jones Drew in a leadership role, but McFadden seems like the lightning in a bottle signing. Someone who can really be a difference maker. MJD might have passed that point in his career. One of them at 4 or 5 mill.

7-8 mill for a guard. Asamoah?

Finally, Tate @4-5 mill too.

Draft best avail TE/WR in rd 1. Resign Reed/Dawan.

At this point, I think going after a guy like Ware would be fixing the roof before you have a house.

Seems the Jets are not going to be in on the safety position, not really a surprise, Rex has never really had big players at the position.

CB's most mentioned seem to be Verner and Captain Munnerlyn.

MJD would be good if he comes cheap since Chris Ivory has never been able to catch the ball in his career. There is no market for "older" Rb's, should not spend a lot on the position.

Hopefully they can get Howard done, has really grown as a player. Not sure what they will do in the WR game, Emmanuel Sanders has been mentioned, meh.

Don't want them to spend any money on stone hands Pettigrew.

Figure one of Vick, McCown, or Schaub, whenever he is released, will be a Jet.

Giants G Chris Snee restructured his contract, lowering his salary from $7.2 million to $1.1 million + $1M of incentives. So $2.1 max cash.

With the Snee news, Giants are roughly 25M under the cap.

It looks like Evan Dietrich-Smith will be a Giant tomorrow.

To reiterate, we are told that Giants punter Steve Weatherford also took a pay cut, though I do not have the details.

I would gladly take Schaub. It doesn't really matter who we have at QB unless we get some talented receivers.

Bit of a rumor brewing -- Rumor is that the Jets are signing Vontae Davis. Likely would mean no Verner, I'd assume.

Sign EDS & Geoff Schwartz & our OL is pretty set IMO. Assuming we keep PuPu platter at OT.

Short of a trade in the next two days, the Buccaneers are expected to release CB Darrelle Revis by 4 p.m. Wednesday, per league sources.

Why would they do that?

16 million dollars.

Talk about a massive waste of resources. Sent the 12th overall pick (the defensive rookie of the year) to the Jets, for the right to pay Revis a million dollars a game, where they used him most of the time in zone coverage.

Brilliance all around.

Not exactly surprised that a horrendously run franchise like the Bucs would do something like that, though.

I assume we'll draft someone in the first three rounds no matter what, though. Snee SHOULD be a back-up on this squad (but I'm sure he'll start) and I'm not comfortable with the other guards. I think they take Yankey in the 2nd round if he's there, quite frankly.

Unless they are moving to zone blocking, Yankey is a poor fit. Not even remotely close to a mauler.

Jets are going to wind up with the Bucs 4th instead of 3rd when they release him, oh well. Getting the only team that wanted to pay to give up a 1st and 4th was still great.

Well, we already run a ZBS (mixed with a flex). Mosley, Pugh, and Beatty all excel in zone blocking. I doubt they are going to be going away from it just because we have the personnel to run it. We've been running a ZBS for a while now.

I doubt we will switch to something completely different (like some form of power-man scheme).

Evan Dietrich-Smith, who we are targeting, also excelled in a ZBS.

They are not a ZBS at all, not even close.

They are a trap and pull and power OL.

Does that change because they brought in a coach from GB? I would guess no, seeing as Coughlin is still the HC, and he has always been a trap and pull guy.

We absolutely run a ZBS scheme (mixed with flex), although we've never used it exclusively. That's why Pugh is probably going to stick at tackle, too. He's a solid ZBS tackle. We've run the same scheme for a few years now.

I'd actually say our scheme is stupidly complex.

The scheme they no longer have....

I still think they prefer power inside.

The way that they pulled Snee around, I don't really see it, man. I think they'll continue to run the hybrid ZBS/Flex scheme with McAdoo here (it makes sense when you think about the center they are going after -- EDS).

And Snee was a power guard.

Hes not a zone guy at all really. Same with Baas, Boothe, Seubert, etc. (though Seubert was excellent on the move)

I would be very surprised if they moved to more zone blocking. At least while Coughlin is still there

You're right. Snee wasn't. That's why he wasn't good when he was pulled much. I didn't like the way he played in the ZBS.

We are definitely sticking with ZBS and will see even more of it, IMO. You don't draft guys like Beatty, Mosley, and Pugh (and go after a UFA like EDS) if you aren't going to run a LOT of ZBS. They were making the move for a while and finally went to it a couple of years ago (I want to say 2012 after McKenzie left was when we really started running a tone of ZBS).

You are definitely correct with Seubert. I miss him on this team tremendously. Although Baas is more mobile than he gets credit for . . .

I would love to see nothing more than the Jets to sign Revis @ 12M a year. Essentially a 1st and a 4th for a 1 year rental of Revis.

That being said, I still see us signing Verner tomorrow.
