Hear that Leggy scored a goal. That's good. I want the Wings to make the playoffs and get swept so we get a 2nd out of them.

Legwand with a goal and three assists playing on the top line in Detroit through 2 games. I'm really interested to see how his offensive game / play is going forward. A motivated Legwand is actually a very good piece on any team. We have all seen what he can do in the playoffs .... and to a lesser extent, when surrounded by better offensive players (he was almost dynamic with Kariya / speed game).

I don't doubt he will play well the rest of this year.

I will be interested to see his game next year if he signs a 3 or 4 year deal this summer…

Yep. Wholeheartedly agree.

I still would like him back on a 3-4 year deal around 4 million +/- 500k. May just be me.

Is it bad that I'm borderline cheering for the Wings now because Legwand deserves a good year?

I would take 3x4.5, especially if Fisher is going to retire and/or we can move Cullen this summer

I just wonder if he would even consider it, or if the book is closed here?

I suppose a lot depends on whether his wife likes Detroit

I don't see Legwand coming back. How many guys get traded at the deadline and then resign with the team who traded him? We are years away from being cup contenders and Leggy at his age wants a chance at a cup and if not Detroit then somewhere else.

Yes, because they're getting in the way of my Jackets making the playoffs.

By that token, I think we're fine. Just kidding, I know the areas outside the city are nice. But in all seriousness, I would assume that if the Wings do well and make the playoffs, and want him back at a reasonable offer from his perspective that he wouldn't want to stay. But I guess it gets interesting as to what they would offer him. Say we offered him 3 years/14 mil, and they offered 4 years/13 mil, then what? Just spitballing obviously but it's an option to consider, especially with Fisher likely retiring. Would he want to come back? Who knows because we suck and it's late in his career...

he had an amazing stretch earlier this year too, on the Canadian road trip..but he couldn't keep that pace up either. he is playing for his next contract now, so I am sure he will give it his all for the next 6 weeks or so.

I don't think anyone will be shocked if he does well, I mean when he is motivated he's a completely different player, and in a contract year on the national stage with Detroit he probably tears it up. Question with him will be what happens once he gets that next contract and the motivation is gone.

if you want any support from ANY other fanbase you need to cleanup your travelling sideshow of a "fan club"; dudes were actually yelling F-U to Rinne Sat night. And yes, given that they took up more than a section and were seated together, it was pretty noticeable by more than just a few folks sitting near them.

hope Leggy keeps it up and keeps CBJ fans out of the POs and gets us a better pick.

Didn't hear about that. That's in poor taste.
I know the Arch City Army's sometimes previously been blamed for borderline crap like that, but 1) it was at home only, 2) I thought that was overblown and in the past, and 3) I didn't think they'd made the trip. But I can't imagine any other scenarios under which that would happen.

Legwand on the radio in Nashville AM.

Got asked who was going to be the empty net goal scorer in Nashville now. Responded ahhhhh. Didn't seem amused.

Said it was nice to put on the wings jersey he loves for the first time.
Decision was for him and family. Wasn't sure if Nashville was an option for next year.

Toughest person to say bye to was Barry Trotz. Got home at 4p wife had car packed at 4:08p and left for airport with wife and kids.

Asked if he wanted to say anything to Preds fans.

Thanks for the support and to the fans who wanted me gone i'm gone and to those who wanted me to stay i'm gone as well.

Went onto say he didn't know which direction the Preds were going and couldn't get an answer out of Poile. Said he doubted he would be back in Nashville next year.

His father was on FSD during his first game and said of course they were happy but that his wife was probably the most excited about the move. Detroit still need to offer him a fair contract, but it would seem they have that rather big thing in their corner.

Legwand, always great with words

Sounds like an NFL Wide Receiver. I foresee the same words being said by Chris Johnson soon.

This bums me out. I hope he wins a cup in Detroit.

edit:

Atleast Howard didn't ask him if he had his 'teeth' in.

They started off an interview joking about empty net goals? I don't know. I think if I took as much crap as he did for so long I wouldn't be amused either, and that would ruin the rest of the interview for me.

Still, it would've been nice had he had some better words for the people who didn't want him gone.

wow, sounds like he was well aware that he was the whipping boy for many fans and probably was acutely aware he didnt live up to expectations, whether those expectations were fair or not.

I have a trading card of legwand from Peewee hockey(you can find anything on ebay ) and of course hee was in a wings uniform. Im sure this is like a dream come true for him. Im guessing his wife is from Michigan, because I just cant see a Tennessee native being that excited about a move to Detroit

If that was indeed how Howard started the interview, I'm surprised Leggy didn't just hang up.
