If there's a way out of getting Grossmann off this team this summer it should definitely be explored but I won't hold my breath.

Honestly a call-up from the Phantoms can't be this bad.

He is big and slow, with terrible puck skills. A liability on the ice anytime he's out there. Deserves to be benched.

It sucks because he was such a beast when we first got him.

Oh well.

a goalie can only do so much when he's playing behind the defense we have

At what point do they bench him for Gus? I would think this would be enough. I just don't get how he keeps playing.

Seriously, it's been bad for months. I don't know why they didn't try Mez and Gus both in the lineup, I mean Grossmann was playing bad enough that we wouldn't lose any defense and it would have been interesting to see how the team performs with a more offensive oriented defense.

But Grossmann just keeps sucking and Berube doesn't seem to notice. He's still out there in the most important situations and getting the same ice time.

It's pretty evident just watching the games but this just backs it up:

http://stats.hockeyanalysis.com/rati...T&sortdir=DESC

Also note the individual Grossmann is playing over. He's better in virtually every category.

I really expected him to rebound after the Olympic break, but it didn't happen. Having him and Schenn back there just makes us so slow...

If we keep Schenn and MacDonald together though, that means our third pairing is Streit/Gus, who are both a little bit undersized, and not very physical. Maybe something like:

Timonen - Coburn
Streit - MacDonald
Schenn - Gustaffson

This is the lineup we should have, but we won't because Berube is so stubborn when it comes to keeping underperforming veterans in the lineup over Gus

I gotta say I'm not one to look at advanced stats or anything but..ouch that really backs up how bad Grossmann really is.

Yeah unless something drastic happens I think the defense we've seen is what Berube is going to go with. I'm sure he loves the veteran presence. It's moves like keeping Grossmann in the line up at this point that really piss me off when I think about how when he took over as coach and said he was going to "demand accountability". What a crock.

There is accountability though, Gustaffson is routinely held accountable for Grossman's play.

Grossman clearly has some type of knee/leg ailment thats effecting his play. I just hope the Flyers recognize he is not 100% some point soon, and let him rest. He'll be needed more in the playoffs.

Good point! Why is it the Flyers are so reluctant to call players up from the Phantoms?..many teams in the league call their players from the farm team just to try them out or test the waters not the Flyers. Do the players on the Phantoms suck that bad?

Second goal tonight in 116 Flyers games. Total 21 points. Gustafsson has 6 goals and 23 points in 87 games, plus one goal in the playoffs. Just sayin...

That goal tonight is probably the worst thing that could have possibly happened.

RT @billmeltzer: KYW's Ed Benkin just pointed out to me that now even Nicklas Grossmann has more goals (1) and same points (12) as Ville Leino this season.

Grossmann is struggling mightily... but if he is a pylon I cant even think of the words that describes Mez on defense.
