Venting

Sorry, I need a place to vent my frustration with hate GIF's and censored language.

Not getting my hopes up. But that'd be ideal.

Rome shouldn't have played. He was so slow. He's not right.

Love the kid and his athletic/skilled qualities, but I too have noticed he doesn't seem to think the game very well. He makes/attempts passes that aren't open all the time, and doesn't take shots that he should as well. Hopefully it's just a learning curve, because he has all the raw ability in the world. I'd wonder what we would have to add to Nichushkin to get Jones from Nashville, but seeing how them and NJ are one of the two worst burnt teams by Russians, I can't see Val being a starting piece.

I think the mistakes are just part of being a rookie. He goes through those kind of stretches. I like his passing ability. Passing up shots I think is I don't think so much bad instincts as him going against his instincts to defer to his "veteran" linemates and maybe trying not to be selfish. OR that might all just be wishful thinking.

Yeah, he's had a couple of bad games after traveling halfway across the world to compete in the Olympics as an 18 year old. Better trade him.

I said I would trade him if it meant we could get Seth Jones. I'm not talking about giving him up for just anyone.

At this stage I'd still rather have Nuke, to be honest.

Me too. He's struggled a little as of late, he's looked sluggish and slow - seen him take a couple of long shifts and get stuck on the ice and stand flat-footed too much - but i think he'll get past that. He's 18... I still think he's got tons of potential. I'd hate to deal him away, and watch him take off once he gets adapted to the NHL on someone else's roster.

The only player from the 2013 draft that I would feel comfortable dealing Nuke for is MacKinnon. Nuke has proven to have superstar potential that no one else from that draft class, outside of the aforementioned, has shown. It's amazing how quickly Val has picked up certain aspects of the game (namely defense). Sure he'll make a poor decision here and there. But that's something that will come with experience. He'll learn when to get off the ice for a line change, he'll figure out when to shoot and when to pass. Those are things that will come as he gets more and more familiar with his teammates and with the league. I'm not worried about that stuff at all.

I'd be much more concerned if he had a questionable work ethic or if he was clueless defensively. But that's not the case. All of his issues will easily be corrected with time.

Selling low on Nuke would be a monumental **** up.

Selling Nuke for Jones is not "selling low". I'm not advocating getting him out because he sucks, I just question his offensive awareness, and would consider trading him for a stud blue chip D prospect like Jones. #1 D > top line winger.

Agree, says this fairly unbiased observer. I'm not all weak in the knees for Seth Jones. I think he has some limitations in terms of vision and playmaking and I seem to be one of the few doesn't think he is all that smart of a player...I'm just not sure he's this big draft steal or whatever. A lot of tools for sure, a lot of raw potential, but I think he's more of a project than many people give him credit for.

Nuke will be just fine and then some...
