Per Lowetide:

D Dillon Simpson: I spoke to Guy Flaming (who spoke to Simpson on-air) and he got the feeling that the young man plans to sign with Edmonton
He should be a priority. His rights aren't worth much (Corban Knight was a better prospect, and only got a 4th).

He already developed, and AHL/ (maybe, merely going off scouting reports) NHL ready

Oh, please! I had the feeling that with our D depth, he would have pulled a Schultz.

Have they make any rules against the Schultz loophole?

They have, but that doesn't apply to Simpson because he isn't leaving school early.

This is his 4th season at North Dakota.

Only few players are eligble for the Schultz loophole, I think its based on the amount of BCHL games you play.

The only thing different for Schultz was he was able to sign earlier (before the draft, or end of June), whereas other College players have to sign in August. So Simpson can still not sign with us, but he will give some heads up (Craig Simpson is on the bus).

So even if he says he not comfortable signing with the amount of depth in front of him, Id trade a signed Musil/ Gernat for a forward prospect to accomadate Simpson, rather than trade Simpson for a smaller return

If you can no longer stomach the Oilers or would rather get a look at one of our best prospects.

Greg Chase is on SHAW tonight vs Lethbridge at 7

It's a good chance to get a look at Chase, against an abysmal opposition albeit.

The Canes have averaged 5 goals against per game on the year so expect a shooting gallery from the Hitmen.

Also keep an eye on these 4 draft eligibles. All of witch I think would be good fits for the Oil.

CAL- Jake Virtanen - LW - Top ten.
CAL- Ben Thomas - D - Round 2.
CAL- Travis Sanheim - D - Round 2.
LET- Carter Folk - LW - Late round guy.

Wow excellent PP from the Hitmen, Chase with a gorgeous pass on the goal. 2-1 Hitmen.

Sanheim had the other on a beauty end to end rush.

Another excellent play by Chase, totally manhandled the defender and drove the net but was robbed by the tender.

Chase has looked good so far a little less engaged than I'm used to but has made some nice plays.

Had a good game, scored a goal, and had some dominate plays. His skating and shot are downright stellar.

I question his decision making and overall hockey IQ, but his tools are off the charts.

That's not too shabby.

Wish we had them as a pairing right now.

It's been hinted before but that's good to hear. Will be very very interesting to see what he can do next season. I've seen him a few times this year in the KHL and his style of play seems an even better fit on the smaller ice. He's a beast of a teenager, very strong, at times he looks like the center version of Chara out there. He's still a bit clumsy and awkward, hasn't really grown into his body yet and though his skating isn't as bad as some sources have said he needs to improve his footspeed to keep up in the NHL. But strong on the puck, can power through people, pretty smart, ok hands and strong on the dot(when given the chance, he's played wing this season).
A couple of seasons in the AHL and we could have an absolutely massive center on our hands. Probably a 3rd C kind of guy but could have even more upside once he grows into his body. He is the kind of player you risk trading away a bit to early because he might take some time before reaching his full potential, it takes time building enough muscle to control that big body, but if you're patient you might hit the jackpot.

In fact, @Simmer18 is also a finalist for @theNCHC Player of the Year award as well. #Oilers @UNDMHockey

I think Simpson led all NCHC D in total (Conference?) Scoring, and Laleggia led the D in goals

Simpson could very well win D0men of the year, offensive D, and has an ok shot at Player of the year, but Archibald seems to be the front runner

That's exciting. He's an afterthought for most of us, so its great to see that he's developed well

Not that these awards could possibly be a bad thing, but historically are they any indicator of NHL success?
